in the woods
the corner waited
to be turned
Metamorphosis
winter’s icy caterpillar
gestates spring’s
tender wings of color
Rock of Ages
the ancient rock
with its sleepy eye
watches all of time
travel by
Missive of Love
the red of the barn
ablaze in the February sun
landscape’s valentine
Together
little house
in the snowy woods
by the rock walls stood
Bromeliad’s Flourish
the southernly porch
fills with winter sun
and desert blooms
Offers Received
in the absence of colors
an abundance of details
seasons give and take
Only Sunshine
winter came
the only sunshine
was conversation
Abode
time and weather
downed the tree and birdhouse
chipmunk’s new abode
Below the Surface
in the still beneath
rain is a caress
water’s breath
Picking Garden
by arm fulls
gather up the yards
of scented colors
Beneath The Palisades
barn catches
the morning sun
another beginning begun
Out In Back
summer lolled
on the August lawn
luxuriating
Patchwork
barn roof’s
quilted covering
pieced together
The Nature of Time
slowly thyme
makes its way
across the lawn of summer
Hallowing
outside the church window
the prayer and devotion
of snow
Outpost
time has worn
the ruby from the clapboards
barns weathering winter
Panes
red barn
holds a multitude
of views
Dwelling
between the leaves
resides
the house of mysteries
Vespers
long before eventide
leaves chant the prayers of trees
the request and praise of grace and gratitude
Cottage Garden
the house resides
in the garden’s
flowering embrace
Church Bell
even when the clapper is silent
the call to community is heard
Comrades
barn doors and sumac
witnessing the seasons
as their colors fade
Chicken Queue
patience is a virtue
in the feed line
at the red barn
Window to the World
life passes through
memories remain
storehouse of stories
Wishbone
Trees wish for rain and sun
a gentle wind, the song of birds
room to breathe and time to grow
Spring’s Elixir
plumping leaf buds
glow a growing green
intoxicated by sweet April rain
Behold
all the benedictions of spring
are rivaled by
the transformations of decay
Bluest of Blues
scilla siberica
blue maiden of early spring
joy is the color you sing
Morning Tree
First light pierces through
the nocturnal shade
and reveals one more summer’s day.
