Great capture! I look at and love your photos every day. Never having been to your part of the world it’s great to see it through your eyes. I don’t comment every day but believe me I’m “commenting”.
I don’t get a lot of comments on my blog, http://www.coupevilleimpressions.com but I hope people are enjoying my blog as much as I do yours
Have a very Merry Christmas and I look forward to your continued efforts.
loved your poem, succinct brevity in beauty. thanks for sharing. Please find time to read my poetry on Rain-Chimes~My Poetry Blog, http://drsmitasriwas280.wordpress.com/
The Eurasian woodpeckers are all different from the American ones (I’ve seen Pileated on my one visit to the States) and the nearest equivalent is Black Woodpecker, which is widespread in continental Europe but not Britain or Ireland. We in Britain have nothing that big.
We have the downy woodpeckers which are much smaller. This particular pileated loves our crabapple tree in front of the house and visits it at least once early in the morning and again around dusk. He (?) is very noisy and the way he looks around after calling makes him seem lonely. Now that the bears are asleep we’ll put out a suet ball to cheer him up. Thanks so much for sharing what happens in your part of the world.
I love these birds. I have a pic of one on my “fauna” page! So awesome…great shot!
On my bucket list is seeing a Woodpecker in “real-life”
Lovely, we don’t have any woodpeckers…
Awesome!
Beautiful!
I call them monkey’s in the woods. They are very loud in the woods. We have them around here too.
Ha! Yes, they are very loud!

Nice! How lucky you are to have this lovely Pileated Woodpecker around. Makes me miss the woods near our former home.
Wow! Awesome photo, and as usual, your words are a perfect match.
Ahhhh!! Love it! I have recently seen pileated, but have never been close enough to get such a marvelous photo! Fantastic photo!
nice photo! I hardly ever see pileated woodpeckers and when I do I never have my camera. this is great!
Great shot! I just got a shot of our pileated on the suet feeder. I may throw the photo out there. Merry Christmas!!
Do! Merry to you too!
Special bird and a fabulous shot!
So excited to see this bird! Thank you for the wonderful image.
Yes I supposed the Woodpecker would reach for the most succulent as they may be easier to consume
U r so lucky to have these amazing birds in your area!!! Thx for sharing!
Good news, you captured a pileated!
I love these birds, we have a pair that live in the trees behind our house.
What a cool sighting!
I love pileated woodpeckers! We have a family that comes to our suet feeder. Last Spring the mother fed the babies there.
Oh! To see the babies! How lucky you are.
Brilliant action bird photo.
