by the frozen vernal pond
in winter’s dark white
the flutist plays
Needed
lantern in snow
a wink of light
feeds hope
Hope Gathers
berries bright cheer us on
through winter’s night
until spring’s dawn
Behold
the light
of fog and frost
incarnation of hope
More than Rain, Lighter than Snow
shrouded grey December day
clouds carry today’s hope
Brief Encounter
a flash of colors
I am flushed with hope
even when only gray remains
Afloat
lilies rose
the water bloomed
hope floats
Daring
life requires hope
the world
must be trusted
Worthy Weed
disparage not the dandelion
who blooms in hope with wishes
Robins
seduce me
with your song of spring
of love and life and hope you sing
Easter Sky
a moveable feast
this transient sky
and light of living hope
Expectation
across the winter muted terrain
dogwood grew a net of color
with hopes of catching spring
Entheogen
like the leaf and vine
hope and faith entwined
Sky Light
a ray of light
within the dark
rekindles hope
and warms the heart
Returned
doubt came
and stole away hope
then the extraordinary beauty
of the ordinary
returned it
Wishes
the season of wishes
summer is when
hopes take flight
Feathered Nest
tossed by the wind
the feathered nest
made of moss and hope
will be built again
Distance
when spring seems
the farthest from home
it is March
Awakening
sunlight on magnolia buds
awakens hope for spring
Endurance
beset and abandoned
the leaf boat holds
to the hope of a thaw
Wanderers
like shooting stars
milkweed travels
on wishes and hope
Next Year
The tractor rests
beside next years berry crop
hoping for a bumper.
Fey Faire Queen
In she flies
on petal wings
carried by magic
offering hope.
Wish
that goodness
thrives and multiplies
like weeds.
Estre
They rise
bringing
hope and renewal.
Commencement
The new day sweeps in
clearing darkness to the side.
Morning’s Color
heralds hope.
Return
The birch lies with lichen and leaves
only to rise again in the next season
as hope eternal, the spring ephemerals.
The Mare
Her spirit shone past her uncared for mane and coat.
She spoke with her eyes about dignity and hope.
Morning Comes
no matter
how dark
the night.
