I grew up calling violas Johnny-jump-ups. I always associated them with spring, and then I moved to Houston. Here, pansies and violas are winter flowers, and the pansies often are used in urban landscaping because they can take the occasional cold snap — even a light freeze — so well.
I grew up in California – so it has been wonderful to discover the first flowers of spring. I’m a big fan of the ‘spring ephemerals’ – those tiny wild flowers that are first up in the woods. I love pansies – but always think of them as ‘delicate’ but it sounds like they just look that way!
Wow – wish I knew how to take proper photographs that would look this vibrant.
The more you take the better the pictures become – it’s the magic of practice. 🙂
Yes, but you seem to have a knack of knowing what to photograph.
Beautiful…nice texture.
This surprised me by touching my heart so strongly. Usually I move past the worn flower to focus upon the “perfect” one – silly me.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! _/\_
Thanks for the friendly reminder that spring is here.
