Ha! 🙂
I see that too. But usually there is only one that visits this tree – so on the day that these two visited together even though their backs were turned to each other they were closer than usual…Woodpeckers apparently are no “love doves” (pun intended).
Wow, cool capture – not just one, but two pileated woodpeckers! They must be a mated pair as they don’t tolerate ‘strangers.’ Were they eating the fruit or looking for insects? Apparently, they will eat some fruit even though ants are their favorite food.
Perhaps they are ‘newlyweds’ as this is the first time I’ve seen two. They were feasting on the crabapples – although this is a favorite tree for pecking also. I didn’t know they liked ants!
Beautiful…Pileated woodpeckers are a bird I long to see in person! Once, I think I saw the silhouette of one in flight at dusk. They do love ants! Thank you for the pic.
Fantastic haiku for the image
Beautiful shot =)
Wonderful silhouette against a blue sky.
Are they woodpeckers ?
Seeing far in each decoration protecting and allowing –
Great capture: I love in shoot in light and shadow … this silouette image is spot on.
I very like it with the two birds just hanging around
Lovely silhouette – like bookends where you can fill in your own titles
Magical shot. Thank you for your always uplifting work.
I love the picture and your words.
Hi. Great photo and interpretation! Jane
Looking at this shot I feel as if there’s been a bit of a lovers tiff!

Beautiful post.
Woodpeckers! They’re pecking holes in my house. I would write:
Facing the world
two evil birds peruse which
house to hammer
Very beautiful and nice!
Very powerful image and imagery.
Lovely interpretation of the woodpeckers’ positions. they’ve got each other’s backs!
Wow, what a shoot! Simply amazing!!
Serendipity!
