Keeping nothing in and no one out
the wall wanders the mountain
dreaming of open fields and hand plows.
Late Afternoon
Shadows are the arms of time
reaching toward twilight.
Time
As the oak leaf rests on granite
millenniums cradle this season.
Foothold
the ancient ones
leave their footprints
above and below the land.
Rock
Once you were liquid, formed by waves of time.
Now you are solid, holding your place in the granite state.
Time
You no longer tell time by new rings.
Now as a beam, you measure time
by the nights and days of shelter you provide,
absorbing laughter and tears into your fibers and history.
