Nature’s Desire

Grass blades grow frost feathers.
Every molecule demanding that their place in the design be realized.
Nature’s desire is to  manifest gloriousness.

Dark before Night

In the winter days darkness comes long before night.
It can seem the sun shines only in the distance
while the cold grabs on tight as a tick.

Batchelor

It’s all in the posture.
Trust me. Just hold steady.
The ladies will float right on up to you.

Reeds

Humble, mighty reed
healer of land and water
sleep sweet in your frozen bed.

Granite State

Miles of the great silver rock
have been cut to create the corridor
into and through the Northeast Kingdom.

Snowed In

Fluff the nest and tuck your beak beneath your wing.
Winter has arrived. It is sitting on our perch, dear.

Layers

The granite layer cake was frosted with snow.
It keep well for several centuries at room temperature.
When the sun often licked off all the icing
the sky simply applied another layer.

Snowcaps

The branches wear snow caps,
fluffy hats of cotton white,
at the behest of old man winter.

Sacred Shape

When Buddha and the Madonna met
their spirits left a sacred shape
a touchstone for peace and practice.
