Love these birds. Have many photos of the males and just a few days ago got my first look (and photo) of a female. They visit our yard regularly. Always a treat. Have been enjoying your posts!
While I have heard my share, I have not seen these lovelies this year. Perhaps I will once all the leaves have gone. I can see where they have been – on my willow!
We have a large population of ‘acorn woodpeckers.’ They stuff acorns into the hole that they make. Wonderful composition.

I have a woodpecker that eats from my bird feeder while hanging on for dear life.
