in the garden lives a serpent and savior the holy hose

I might not go that far, and I live in an area where hosepipe bans have become a common occurrence. Lawns turn a shade of sandy brown after a certain date, and the idea of painting a lawn like the Americans is totally foreign to us.
The French like their lawns too, but we are no longer fighting an uphill battle. In the uK, people are lesse effected, but it still goes on. We see the difference as we move up through France and the South of England each time we go and see my parents near the Scottish border.

We do like our lawns but are learning to make them much smaller.
