They do. Bluebirds like their houses to be in or near and open field or meadowland. They probably are watching from inside with tiny bluebird binoculars for predators and the openness gives them a clear view.

I’ve never seen a red bluebird house — or one of any other color, for that matter. They’re usually weathered and gray, and I simply assumed that was their prefererence. Clearly, that’s not so!
