    1. I think this one might be wanting more sun – but I love the way it is so delicate and thinned out.

  3. BTW – a great garden fence in the background – the only way to garden in deer country!

    1. For sure! And even then….but the deer have been very kind to us (so far) this year and have not consumed the buds off the mock orange.

      1. I heard that mock orange forms an impenetrable thicket serving as a very good “fence” as well…

      2. I hadn’t heard that. Something to consider! What could be lovelier than a fence of mock orange?

  4. Robyn Haynes – Australia – Robyn enthusiastically pursues a green and writerly life on the north coast of New South Wales, Australia, where her background as a doctor of social anthropology equips her with an interesting slant on the human condition. She spends much time indulging a passion for her garden where she ponders life and attempts to stave off existential angst. In her more reflective moments she makes wry observations on courtyard gardening and its parallels with life.
    Robyn Haynes says:

The words convey exactly what I was thinking when I saw the photo.

  5. chelawriter – I thought retirement would give me more time to write, but as with may others, my experience of retirement so far is that it is far busier than my employment years. Two wild fires with evacuations and extensive damage to my home have not helped. Repairs are almost complete, and fingers crossed things will settle down so I can post more often.

My face went immediately into a big smike. Thanks
