    A beautiful winter’s view.

  5. Helen DeRamus Artist – Marietta – I am a fine artist working in oil paint and creating drawings on paper. My primary medium is oil paint on cradled wood using cold wax medium. Work on paper, using India Ink and graphite is a major part of my practice. Drawings lead me to the development of ideas and though the drawings may stand alone, they also lead to larger work in oil. The smaller drawings are often used as an inspiration of larger drawings. My paintings are about all the visual scraps, translucent bits and pieces, and the neuronal fragments found in the layers of memory. Using the landscape as a metaphor, the paintings are excavated from my personal memories. Throughout the United States and Canada, I have paintings, prints, photographs, and works on paper included in corporate, public and private collections including: Jacksonville State University, Ventyx Corporation, Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, Georgia Perimeter College, North Georgia College and State University, The ART Station, the Ben Hill-Fitzgerald County Library, the Women's Center at Kennestone Hospital, the Atlanta Women's Foundation in Atlanta, Georgia, and Livingston College at Rutgers University in New Jersey. I am represented in Atlanta, Georgia by TEW Galleries, in Homestead, Alabama by Art Alley and In Saugatuck, Michigan by ROAN & BLACK contemporary gallery. My studio is located in the Artisan Resource Center in Marietta, Georgia a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia.

  6. Rene Yoshi – Just a transplanted Okinawan-French Southern girl with a wee bit o' Irish, sharing photography and what I'm learning about spiritual things, including putting off legalism and religious traditions, and embracing God's matchless love, tender mercy, and amazing grace!

    Simply beautiful image and prose.

  10. firefly1275 – Louisiana – V. Rose enjoys creating mystical characters and worlds, with a touch of the modern day world. When she is not writing or thinking up her next story ideas, she is enjoying South Louisiana sunset.

Lovely! We finally got snow today and I could not be happier. Living in the moment!

  13. KarinSmiling – hobby artist... ... ... ... spreading her wings… A native Rochestarian, and self proclaimed “hobby artist” has actually had shows at the CWO Gallery and at the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery. She has participated in ARTWalk, Artist Row at the Rochester Public Market, ArtAwake, Rochester Mini Maker Faire, Barnes & Noble Maker Faire, Rochester Artisan's Blue's Event, Rochester MakerSpace's Sunday Artists & Makers Expo (SAME), Wall Art for a Purpose, Finger Lakes Gallery & Frame "Fresh Ideas" show, Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester's ArtRageous Affair, RoCo 6x6 and Annual Members Exhibition, the NYS Fair, The Bridge Art Gallery 10th Anniversary show, and Congressional Arts Competition-First Place in New York’s 30th District. Currently she has 6 pieces at The Artists Cave in Sea Breeze, NY. She is also showing at Stony Point Art Gallery-East and the Notre Dame Retreat House. She is participating in the Irondequoit Passport to Art the last weekend of July. Her once favored medium was acrylic paints done in the monochromatic style for Finger Lakes landscape paintings. Recently she has been doing more faith based creations, creative experimental pieces, and meditative labyrinths. Adding labyrinths to a landscape gives it depth and a creative way to journey through the painting. Her immersive nature art is amazing and her intuitive art is whimsical. Her trail photo poetry has become a fun, creative and athletic hobby as well. Recently she was published in The Geneseean. Her scholastic training was throughout grade school and into college. Her favorite instructor is the incomparable Mr. Thomas O’Brien. She then had a decade or so period that was focused on work and everyday life. But in the past fifteen years she has renewed her passion for painting and multi-media arts. Yes, all art is for sale. She generally also tithes to a related group that hosted or inspired the piece of art. She also does commission work and lessons by request. This is her first time creating an art blog… enjoy!

  15. Dr. Denny Wilkins – Dr. Denny Wilkins professes journalism at a small, private university in the Northeast. He has climbed, hiked, kayaked, photographed, skied, and otherwise meandered aimlessly throughout the American West for decades. He has degrees in geology, environmental studies, and communication — and has tried to make use of them as a co-founder of the progressive cultural blog ScholarsandRogues.com. He’s broadly interested in how the world works and why it works that way. He hates writing, although he does like having written well.
