  8. maureenc – south east Queensland – Supposedly retired ,I fit my fabric and fibre fanaticism in with sharing my life with , family and friends and a few other activities My star sign is Cancer;I love being near the ocean and live on the shores of Moreton Bay in SEQ;I enjoy listening to music of many genre,but prefer instrumental to vocal; Reading....I always have a couple of books and magazines on the "go" simultaneously;

  9. arlene – It's been some years since I started this blog. Supposedly, it was only to share my plight as a cancer patient and survivor but over the years it has somehow evolved into something personal about my life and my family. So really glad to have met you all wonderful people out there. Someone commented once that he liked the title of this blog, Dreams and Escapes. Dream on, there are more things in life than we really think. Be happy, you only live once. Sometimes you also need an escape from the vicissitudes of life and this blog helps me cope. Welcome. Feel free to leave your comments, I do welcome them.

    A neat illustration of human influence. The geology on both sides of the fence looks the same. On the left, the ground has been “improved”, maybe only by the dung of the animals kept there, maybe more deliberately by the farmer. Possibly even a different kind of grass has been sown. At ground level you might not notice the difference with the “unimproved” land.

  12. What a fantastic illustration of the difference I saw in colors before and after my cataract surgery. The grass was green the whole time — I just couldn’t see it.

  23. dennyho – A Virginia native, I was born in RVA. In my twenties I married and moved to SoCal where I learned to love a new landscape, was forced to drop my ever present southern 'ma'am', and discovered the necessity of honing my (lacking) map skills. In due time I found myself in C'bus where our daughter arrived and gladly I put myself second. Next city on tour was the 'Burgh (as in PA) and here we welcomed our son. Many years later, I now reside in E'ville, Virginia, Earlysville for those of you who may not know of my sleepy little hamlet resting within Charlottesville in the piedmont of the Blue Ridge Mountains. As I look back over the the abbreviated stops along my life's highway I know I've stepped foot in every spot, met every person, and experienced every high and low for exacting yet unknown reasons bringing me to where I am today. The who I am today is because I travelled that highway, made those stops, and dared to believe I do have it all.

  26. lyart – Berlin, good old Germany – I let my mind wander and it didn't come back (Calvin & Hobbes by Bill Watterson) Born and raised in rural Styria, Austria, all I ever wanted, was to get away to the next, bigger city. Only ever made it to Berlin, where I have lived the past 30 odd years. As soon as I escaped small town Austria and Jehovas witnessism, I made up this fine plan to first take Manhattan, then to take Berlin... But I allowed myself to be trapped once more. In an ill-suited marriage. At least, this gave me the opportunity to travel the world, fall in love with Scotland, change my profession from photographer to golf course manager and relocate to Berlin, skipping Manhattan. Now well into my late fifties, I have learned this: 1.) there's nothing better than a good friend 2.) it feels better to live at peace with oneself than always fretting over the road not taken 3.) I am a country girl after all, Berlin notwithstanding. This knowledge doesn't stop my mind from wandering at times. This is, where you, the big cyber lot, comes into the picture. Over the years online, I have found it very rewarding to share en route, where my mind takes me to. Hope, the same goes for you... ...and for those who wonder, if the image I chose to represent myself, is actually me: nope, but boy, do I wish it were! It is a painting by my favourite artist, Lita Cabellut.
