  1. Life in the 50's and beyond... – Ohio – Welcome to Life in the 50's and 60's and beyond .... where I write about my childhood memories, music of the 60's and about life in the country. I am a mother, grandmother, farmer's wife, business owner, and retired teacher.

I hope it says…. Spring is coming soon!

  2. StillWalks – This blog is a place for me to present the personal element of StillWalks. I make them because I love doing it - that is, the photography and sound recording. More than that, it is a place for me to give others a more detailed look at all that I feed into StillWalks - my life as an artist and the various observations I make from day to day. All these things influence my photography and sound recording.

Amazing photo – love it 🙂

    1. It’s the Connecticut river in the “Upper Valley” between NH and VT. An especially beautiful place.

  3. vlsperry – Ringgold, Georgia – For fun, I write science fiction and fantasy. My protagonists are often strong, middle-aged females from various backgrounds. For profit, I am an accountant at a CPA firm in Chattanooga. It IS a quirky universe....
    vlsperry says:

    Looks surprisingly like Arabic!

  4. Tom – St. Louis, Missouri – I have been a lay chaplain in maximum security prisons in Missouri for more than 21 years, and I enjoy reading, writing, blogging, and being outdoors: working, walking, hiking, fishing, and just being in the North Woods whenever I can. Oh, and music, lots of music.
    Tom says:

Movement frozen in its tracks. Energy captured in a lonely yet beckoning signature.

  5. Beautiful photo! Wonderful patterns, comparable to clouds seen from an airplane. Nature’s patterns and order are so subtle and complex.

  6. This is a lovely photo– I really enjoy getting your updates every day, and I’m impressed that you’re so on top of it, putting out a new update every day. I’ve been looking around wordpress, and as far as I can tell, what you’re doing with your blog is very similar in spirit to what I’m trying to do, although with a different focus. As you can see, I’ve also been trying to post something every day, but with the rest of my work/parenting responsibilities, it’s hard to make the time. Where are you located? It looks like New England, or maybe the upper midwest. I’m often envious of the ‘real’ winter depicted in your posts, here in Virginia we get lots of mud and not a whole lot else. Ennyhoo, I just wanted to say that I’m very impressed with what you’re doing here, and consider you something of a kindred spirit, even though your blog (intriguingly) has nearly no information about you.

  7. maryoconnor12 – Along the Connecticut shoreline – I am a writer, poet, community volunteer, pupil of psychology, writing instructor, guest speaker, artist, lover of nature, curious traveler and author of Life Is Full of Sweet Spots, An Exploration of Joy, as well as Dreams of a Wingless Child, a book of award-winning poetry. An advocate of the power of writing as an agent of change, I enjoy speaking to community groups about the joy of making words sing and conduct creative poetry writing workshops for inmates at the State of Connecticut’s York Correctional Institution. As a writer and a painter, I enjoy living along the Connecticut shore, where I infuse everyday observations of the natural world with the sensitivity and insightfulness that tend to define my experience of life. It is these reflections that have helped me realize that one need not look far to find an element of peace, of celebration, of joy, in this inordinate world of which we are all a part.

And what a beautiful message it is!

  8. Deborah W. Trotter – I'm a children's book author and lover of the great outdoors. National Parks in the western United States have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

    Amazing images.

  9. wildsherkin – Sherkin Island, Co Cork, Ireland – I like to make things, and I don't always have time and space to do that. Sherkin Island is a tiny island off the south west coast of Cork. It's one of the Carbery One Hundred Isles in Roaring Water Bay, just a ten minute ferry ride from Baltimore in West Cork yet a million miles away from my day job.

Lovely! It reminds me of my Photo challenge: Delicate:

  10. iggandfriends – Taking time out to ponder life and everything else. This is the space where I press the pause button on my busy life to reconnect with God, to re-energize, and focus on my creativity. Time out to blow bubbles, walk on the beach, write some stuff, do some needlework, and generally enjoy life once again. You can view my main blog at www.iggandfriends.wordpress.com. I also have another blog at www,faithinthehome.wordpress.com, and a arty/crafty one at http://52weeksofcreations.wordpress.com/. I hope you enjoy visiting :)

Lovely picture and words as always

  11. Amazing effect. But I’ll have to stop looking at your posts when winter comes here – unless of course you are then posting lovely warm pictures

  12. The image brings back memories of being on the lake last weekend.

  13. sagedust – Lost my moral compass Somewhere back on Route 66 There’s a casino there where everyone smokes Which seems kind of dangerous with all the oxygen tanks Don’t laugh; you’d need oxygen too if you smoked that much People don’t walk well there All these glitches and hitches and limps Bad hips bad backs bad knees bad feet bad diets bad habits Blew twenty bucks on the slots All those lights and noises were making me homicidal So I headed west on the Mother Road thinking A rolling stone gathers no moss and a free spirit gathers no dogma

Wonderful landscape and description. I can feel a (landscape) quilt struggling to be born

  15. Just wonderful, both image and words.

  16. Gretchen Del Rio – Crestline, California, USA – I first discovered the magic of water based colors when many years ago I began to paint with procion dyes on silk. I loved the unexpected quality of the process. It was so exciting to never be sure what the colors and water would combine to produce. It seemed as though the medium had its own passion. Painting with watercolors and paper is much the same. I love the color combinations and separations that occur spontaneously as the color floats on the water. You can never totally predict what effect will result. If you try to control the medium too much, your painting will be very tight losing its aliveness. The artist must be bold and decisive or the work will not be clear and fresh. It is really like a dance. It becomes a controlled folly in knowing when to let go and when to take charge of the direction that the painting is taking. The images that I paint reflect my emotions and are expression of my life experience. They are not extensively planned, but rather evolve as the painting progresses. I am always surprised by the end result since it comes into being because of what the medium and emotion has suggested. The paintings are from my heart and I always fall in love with the subject. I believe that we are all connected and, if an image touches you, it is because we all have the same heart even though our paths may be different. Most of all, painting what I paint makes me happy. The paintings are my own path unfolding. They are an opening door for me and contain my own passion for life.
    Gretchen Del Rio says:

I have never seen this scene before. Most interesting and a wonderful shot.

  17. RMW and BTC – We are problem solvers, who are very interested in the relationship of mathematics to interactive human behavior. We believe that with only four postulates and two corollaries we can account for virtually all IHBs, gain a better and more truthful understanding of ourselves, discover a more global form of education, and understand the precise conditions necessary for world peace.

    Bernice says:

    Great picture – very unusual!

  20. lindygrasser – Lakewood, Ohio – After years of never traveling anywhere because of various limitations (time, money, family, etc), I'm finally able to break away and see the US! My goal is to see every state by the end of 2016 by traveling to one state per month from March-November of each year. I've just completed the first two years and have learned a lot about eating vegan on the go, making sure my equipment and car are in working order, finding cheap (yet clean and comfortable) hotels, and what my limits are. I recently upgraded to a Sony A77 DLSR, and I love it (although I wish it wasn't so darn heavy!) www.lindygrasser.wordpress.com

I love this! I’ve never seen anything like it. Very unique!

  21. Dr. Denny Wilkins – Dr. Denny Wilkins professes journalism at a small, private university in the Northeast. He has climbed, hiked, kayaked, photographed, skied, and otherwise meandered aimlessly throughout the American West for decades. He has degrees in geology, environmental studies, and communication — and has tried to make use of them as a co-founder of the progressive cultural blog ScholarsandRogues.com. He’s broadly interested in how the world works and why it works that way. He hates writing, although he does like having written well.
    Dr. Denny says:

I’ve spent much of my life wandering through Vermont and New Hampshire (I’m a Massachusetts native), so curiosity compels me to ask: Which river?

    1. It’s the Connecticut – in the “upper Valley”. This shot was taken from the bridge that connects Orford, NH with Fairlee, VT.
Thanks Dr. Denny I’ve enjoyed your comments.

  22. denisebushphoto – My passion for photography has rewarded me with the opportunity to examine the world carefully. My approach is intuitive and I choose to impose no constraints – leaving myself open only to possibilities. As a professional designer I am drawn to images that offer a strong composition, pattern and rhythm. Creating images with a unique perspective while sometimes pushing the limits of traditional composition 'rules' excites me. Landscapes, nature subjects and things from the past are common themes in my work.
    denisebushphoto says:

Interesting pattern on the ice. Mother nature is always surprising us. Great capture!

  23. Beautiful photo! Greetings from newbie on the block, thank’s for visiting mine, will come back to look more 🙂
