the gospel
of birdsong
sermon in the field
Weathered
old homestead
holding the place
for spring
On the Sideline
pompoms
of petaled color
cheering on fall
Navigating Darkness
troubled times
the lantern needed
even in sunlight
Maple on Birch
at meadow’s edge
maple turns
summer’s page
Steps
summer left
her pink and yellow footprints
on the ripening meadow
Hues and Shades
morning light
the sky is painted
in clouds and white
Queen Anne’s Field
the old red barn
watch guard
of the queen’s field
House and Garden
in the meadow
between the two
room for all of life
Keepers
old milk can
the blue bird box
custodians of paradise
Rain Pond
on quenched earth
rain becomes
reflections of the day
Go
green light
from the birch lampposts
luminosity of growth
Gathering
cold gathers
in the tree line
stronger than November sun
Edged With Antique Lace
green field sparkles with frost
as winter takes residence
in the shadow’s depth
The Queen’s Snow
flurry
of fluttering lace
in the quiet white light
Entirety
there was
nothing in the meadow
but the whole of everything
Hikers
they gathered at the fence
soon to be
flowers in the field
Invitation
the open gate
invites me
into the new day
Fast Morning Sky
the landscape unfurls
its green velvet carpet
for the day to walk
Meadowland
lupin shared their secrets
of beauty, bloom and seed
summer spread across the field
Good Morning
morning graze
the river flows
and songbirds serenade
Convocation
at the bridge
quaker ladies rally
sojourn to the spring woods
Field Song
grasses sing
a serenade
to shorter days
Devotion
to be waited for
and received in love
is the soul of homecoming
Assistance
cloudy day
the lupin shine
a blue that smiles for the sky
Countryseat
in their meadow kingdom
lupin minarets flank
bluebirds’ castle
Green Glade
in the quiet
nature’s voice
is heard
Three Berry Cottage
at the meadow’s edge
where the woods begin
three berry cottage awaits
her chance to comfort and contain
Married
the roof is meadow of moss
a common law marriage
of structure and elements
Merry Meadow
a swath of wild flowers
lead to the road home
