shelter in the rhododendron
waiting out winter
alongside flower buds
Hearing Hallelujah
crowded so tight
they seem almost one
every dot a note in the visual song
Reprieve
drinking in
the blue blue sky
brief banishment of grey
Best Effort
when flowering
is impossible
bloom your leaves
Carmine
stiletto petals
seamed like silk
timeless fashion vixen
Snow Bird
on oak
leafed wings
snow bird flew
Rainy Day Music
rain plays
on tin roofs
symphony for birds
Outlier
snow balanced on limbs
daring the wind
to draw new silhouettes
Portals
life passes through
on the way
to the great beyond
Wild Strawberries
with berries gone
leaves reminiscence
still coloring the lawn
Emerald Wall
barrier embraced
hard edges softened
by a majesty of moss
Carapace
the fern
tortoise shelled
winter’s slow approach
Home Together
place
made known
by stone and heart
Wild
herd
of birch gathers
in the zebra woods
Sides
branched
right and left
both needing the stem
Alighted
hope
is faith’s comrade
keeping us afloat
Assertion
night held tight
in the morning’s frost
while the bloom asserted day
Still
leaves newly gone
night unpacks her bags
no gloom in the glooming
Buche de Noel
mushroomed and mossed
the forrest’s
confection of perfection
The Plenty
how can I miss the flowers
when every leaf’s in bloom
fall bouquets abound on trees
Echo
all the departures of fall
echo all the departures in life
a practice of fond farewells
Cacophony
rustle of leaves
squeaking of trees
sounds of season change
Revealed
as leaves depart
the hideaway
is made known
Road Signs
full stop
traffic jam
of autumn’s color
Saturated
a bluing sky
intensifies
the turning of the trees
Beautiful World
autumn colors
creep up from behind
nine lives are not enough
Coloring
my eyes
can hardly hold
all the beauty that unfolds
Flow
oh to be
a leaf in the water
that shapes the rock
Shadow Bloom
backdrop of self
the play of light and shadow
a double bloom
Homecoming Dance
fall arrives
as leaf and shadow
dance in waning light
