Leaves Surrender

the first surrender is to color
the second is to be untethered by the wind
and the final surrender is to perish in form and replenish the earth

Slender Thread

We are tied to this earth
with a thread more slender and fragile
than the stem of a birch leaf in autumn.

Change

Corn tassels have browned
mist ushers in the morning
plants and weather are our time keepers.

Abundance

Nature knows no limits in the beauty she bestows.
Be a steward of splendor cherish don’t trample.

Sisters

They feed in the field of their ancestors
and rest in a humble structure
that is everything it needs to be –
home

Open Door

The pond frogs serenade the cows
with an early evening lullaby
when the barn doors are open.

Horizons

Standing in the quiet of the field
in the gentle morning light
the mountain range rests in soft clouds
all is as it should be.

Meadow

The colors of summer
call out from the meadow
come play with us today.

Route

At the onset the way seems straight forward
but just out of sight are the dips, rises, swerves and curves
that transform a trip into a journey.

Field of Dreams

Dreams take shape slowly
emerging from soft surroundings
an impression forms, staking claim on hope.

In Place

An open stretch of sky, grass as soft as velvet
the wandering Connecticut River within reach;
all is well, God is near.
