lichen paints the forest green.

The emerald table is a sacred place
where the forest kin celebrate harvest.

The stump of an oak grows a miniature forest,
a mountain with moss trees for insects to scale.

Like a lantern
the illuminated leaf
lights the forest journey.

In the solitude
you are not alone.
The trail is marked.

A knot of limbs.
A web of leaves.
The forest is a tapestry.

Ancient acorn woman
wanders the forest floor
tends the wild rose

Mother Nature’s remnants
speak to me
of the secret lives in the forest

Unearthed roots provide an abode for bugs and grubs.
New space for the saplings to grow in is made.
This is the forest’s shooting star.

Not even your magnificent camouflage
can obscure your vibrant alive-ness.
