The Entry Is The Horn

the stairs
a cornucopia
abundance on Beacon Hill

a single ray of light
splits the darkness open
an entrance for possibilities

if tranquility
had an entrance
it would be this

the green archway
an invitation to
the flowering realm

is a hole
perfectly round
made in the ground

granite post marks
the old entrance
passageway to spring

stepping stones
in the mossy path
invitation to the woods

swooping in
summer arrives
on red wings

this is the way
through the dark and the grey
past winter’s long night and into the light

fallen tree
becomes a torii arch
gate to the sacred woods

Two trees at the entrance to the woods
mark the dividing line between sun and shade.
