mother and child
side by side
into the morning mist

refining and redefining
the essence

seasons
pass through
memories remain

seeking sun when young
making shade with age
the garden’s straw hat

aged arbor
speaks to me
of countless happy times

swayback shed
saddled by the sky
ridden by time

with all of youth departed
the essence laid bare
