  1. Steven Tryon – Irondequoit, NY – I am a photographer, walker, and sometime paddler, a theologically-educated geek living in Rochester, NY. Once upon a time I was an Army helicopter jockey in Alaska. Supports gay/lesbian/trans/whatever folks. I started with film, switched to digital, then went back to classic film cameras.

    A most apt description. 😸

  2. Cynthia Guenther Richardson – Pacific NW – Hello fellow readers and bloggers, Writing has always been a powerful connector to diverse ideas and people. We each are a meaningful part of this beautiful, ever-widening web of life. Blogging enables more interaction, which I love even after 11 years of blogging posts on three different sites. For thirty years I was an addictions/mental health counselor and also a manager of home care services for elderly folks. Now that I have hit 70 and am more devoted to a creative life! I've published online or in literary journals/collections several times, including fiction and creative non-fiction pieces and poetry over five decades. Additionally, I was nominated for a Pushcart Prize for an excerpt of my novel-in-progress, Other than Words (the work gathering dust at present), about a mute dancer and her impact on her adopted community and a world-travelling photojournalist. I also am working on a connected set of stories about a close-knit town in northern Michigan. On Wordpress I enjoy writing about living richly despite (or because of) life's setbacks and a diagnosis of heart disease at age 51. Posts tagged "memoir" share spiritual adventures, interactions with nature, the healing of trauma's impact and challenges of writing full-time. Short stories and creative nonfiction, and poetry are favorite genres but I enjoy sharing my photography as well My hope is my offerings reflect a profound faith in God and our humanness which cloaks spiritual natures. I include myself as part of the diverse group of writers who discover and share the illuminating, positive experiences amid life's uncertainties and hardships. Let me hear from you when you visit--I appreciate your comments a great deal. Blessings and regards, Cynthia

  4. ReflectionSeed – I am someone that refuses to sit on either side of the fence and do nothing about it: mother, grandmother, daughter of planet earth, and human and civil rights advocate. A little about the writer I've loved writing since I was a little kid. Before I reached age 10, I knew I wanted to become a professional in the field. When I was around 12 years old, my uncle, an engineer at the printing press of a major newspaper, gave me a large set of type sets and all the gear I needed to print in a modest home-made press. As soon as I learned how to set it and got my first supplies, I made a four-page newspaper that I distributed among my friends, neighbors, and nearby establishments. I was encouraged to continue my work, and soon after that, I was able to include advertising and comic strips. My paper became a 6 page, including "paid" advertising of our local convenience store, pharmacy, supermarket, etc. That allowed me to keep up with the cost of printing it. I published the usual news of my neighborhood, including many of my school's activities, the local sports, and occasionally I delved into the news in the newspapers. I don't remember exactly how long I did this, but it was a long time. Then in my early teens, I contributed to a radio show with reviews of children's movies, music, and whatever they would allow me. Just about the time I reached 20 years old and before college graduation, I became a writer for a T.V. talk show and later became a segment producer. I proudly share it was the #1 talk show on the air in Mexico City. From there, my professional career as a writer grew and became an investigative reporter, later an international correspondent for the same T.V. station. I covered the political/social revolution in Nicaragua and the disturbed countries in Central America. And I was sent to report from other countries such as the U.S., Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil. Since I moved to Guatemala, I worked at a Guatemalan newspaper, later for a T.V. News, and I had my own daily Radio Talk Show. Then, invited by News provider in the U.S., I came here, and I was given the opportunity to become a Photo-Journalist (my beloved hobby since age 10) for a small Photonews agency in Washington D.C. That launched a new and successful career for me, and up to date, I still cover several fields for the media. As well, I started a commercial photography studio that allowed me to incur several areas in the photography realm. When I came to the U.S. (1979), I spoke English, but up to this point, I still lack total command of the language. Don't be surprised that from time to time, too often for my preference, I made a few mistakes here and there. Same errors that I am constantly correcting after I posted my last piece. So please forgive me if you read one of my blogs, and it lacks the expected clarity. Believe me, I try my very best, but sometimes I discover my mistakes after my blog was posted. The good news is that you don't have to pay to subscribe to them! The reason I've been blogging, instead of contributing to the media simply is, because, after my long experience in the media, I realized that my interests overweight my wishes to become a paid writer. And if you read any of my blogs, you possibly noticed that my utmost attention is breaking the fallacies and myths that the media perpetrates for the sake of making sure they have the income to pay their writers. Sadly, due to the allowed space in the written media, many things become heavily diluted. Therefore some of the necessary data is missing. Not to mention the fact that in the political world, the media seems to sympathize more with certain candidates and not as much with the opponent. And frankly, I get quite frustrated when I read that which is contrary to what is supposed to be. Therefore, the media tends to put words in the mouth of their readers. Not a viable option if a responsible and unbiased train of thought is expected or wanted. That is where I enter in the picture. I aim to focus on the elements that can lead to clear and transparent thinking. I am not a partisan writer or supporter. I am a writer that attempts to entice my few readers to discern and learn about the important aspects of the responsibility as a citizen in a democratic society and to honor and protect the best interests for our society and every single individual. A nation, in my view, is about every single citizen, their well-being, lifestyle, and preferences, and those should be respected even if I disagree with them. However, everyone is granted the very same constitutional rights and opportunities, but sadly, we all know that many people lack the voice to be heard. They are too busy trying to meet ends. I wish you enjoy my blogs as much as I enjoy writing them and that my thoughts entice to see these issues from a different place. That, whether you approve of them or not, you are more than welcome to voice yourself with your comments. One of the ultimate facts of life is: "I don't know what I think until I talk about it." A thought coined by professor Timothy Leary. Thank you for visiting my pages! Isis Win
