  1. derrickjknight – UK – I am an octogenarian enjoying rambling physically and photographing what I see, and rambling in my head as memories are triggered. I also ramble through a lifetime's photographs. In these later years much rambling is done in a car.

  4. pastpeter – Sometime Senior Scientist, sometime Senior Pastor, now senior citizen, happily retired and living once again on Long Island, New York – the place people always want to leave but always come back to. Our retirement years have taken Marian and me to mid-coast Maine (A Maine Winter), to the New Hampshire Lakes region (A New Hampshire Journal), and then back to Long Island, where we had spent the 17 “best years of our lives” (Past Pastoring). We loved the north country, but are so glad to be “Home” (Long Islanders).
    pastpeter says:

You awoke my eyes to sumacs as the “roses of winter” last year. Thank you!

  5. 2ndhalfolife – In the second (or really third?) half of my life now. Moving into the more crone stage: out of my head, into my soul. My magic is returning after many years of having lost it to the streets of life. There have been some very dark times, but these have made my journey rich with the stuff of possibility. Because out of darkness has come the glittering beauty of illumination. It has come with struggle and toil, and not without help--but I am here, and I am mostly in tact, and I'm here to share the rest of this journey with you all if you care to join me.......
    2ndhalfolife says:

Oh I love the sparkles! May you have a sparkling New Year…keep up the wonderful work. It brings joy to my life!

  6. Molli Lowry Photography – Superior, CO – My journey to becoming a Professional Photographer began on a leap of faith, and a decision to quit my job and leave the world of Corporate Human Resources. It was hands-down the best decision I've ever made professionally, and I've never looked back. I am a natural light photographer focused on capturing emotive and love-filled family photographs. I like to say that I don't photograph subjects; I photograph moments, personalities and feelings. My goal in every session is to show the authentic beauty and love in life’s everyday moments. Please contact me to book a session; I would be honored to help you tell the story of your family....

Those whitened wisps of grasses, bent ghosts of summer past. Happy New Year to you.

  8. That is a lovely shot. I wish you had a ‘like’ option because sometimes I would just like to acknowledge your beautiful photography but I don’t really have anything to say. You have good skills and a good eye. 🙂

  9. methodistmel – Hondo, Texas – It is not at all lonely in the middle, but most of us do lack passion. The less kind might even call moderate Christians the "frozen chosen." I plan to show some passion-- but with thought. This blog hopefully will speak from the heart and the head. I'm a soon-to-be-retired Methodist pastor and former lawyer and lobbyist for the University of Texas System. I also served as a staff person in the Texas Legislature for about 10 years. My wife is the best, my step-children are great and my daughter-in-law and grandchildren are wonderful.

Wow. It halted me in mid-surfing.

  10. Apple Hill Cottage – Renovating a little cottage in the country that's been in our families for years. Three years of renovating on weekends took its toll, and we moved in before it was finished. Yes, we knew the warnings… but still, we're here now and our adventures have changed a bit...
    Apple Hill Cottage says:

Beautiful! The texture of the grasses drooping with snow is an amazing backdrop. And I love sumac. Five Stars! 😀

  11. Oh my! So rich and full of hope. It shows that if you go looking for beauty, you can easily be surprised by its everyday presence–as I was by this truly striking photograph.

  12. Jill Kuhn – Spokane, WA – I am an Artist who likes to create in multiple art mediums and tell stories by playing with words and adding humor in my art.

LoVe the sizzling colors and textures! YAY! 🎉❤️🎉

  13. lyart – Berlin, good old Germany – I let my mind wander and it didn't come back (Calvin & Hobbes by Bill Watterson) Born and raised in rural Styria, Austria, all I ever wanted, was to get away to the next, bigger city. Only ever made it to Berlin, where I have lived the past 30 odd years. As soon as I escaped small town Austria and Jehovas witnessism, I made up this fine plan to first take Manhattan, then to take Berlin... But I allowed myself to be trapped once more. In an ill-suited marriage. At least, this gave me the opportunity to travel the world, fall in love with Scotland, change my profession from photographer to golf course manager and relocate to Berlin, skipping Manhattan. Now well into my late fifties, I have learned this: 1.) there's nothing better than a good friend 2.) it feels better to live at peace with oneself than always fretting over the road not taken 3.) I am a country girl after all, Berlin notwithstanding. This knowledge doesn't stop my mind from wandering at times. This is, where you, the big cyber lot, comes into the picture. Over the years online, I have found it very rewarding to share en route, where my mind takes me to. Hope, the same goes for you... ...and for those who wonder, if the image I chose to represent myself, is actually me: nope, but boy, do I wish it were! It is a painting by my favourite artist, Lita Cabellut.
    lyart says:

great pic! Happy New Year to you!

  14. judybarton – Still in love, complicated, almost stupid, interested to recognize herself. "Up to the age of eighteen years old everybody writes poems; after, only two categories of people may continue to do it: poets and idiots." (Benedetto Croce). Obviously I do not consider myself a poet.
    judybarton says:

    Really beautiful!

  15. camerapacker – Greenville, SC – I have been photographing since 1957. I am a retired pathologist, dedicated photographer, avid audiophile and occasional fisherman. I may comment on all of the above in my blog. My blogs will have photo graphic subjects I am currently experimenting with. I continue to teach photography at Furman University in the OLLI program. My classes include Photoshop skills and photo criticism.
    camerapacker says:

Great subject with excellent execution and interpretation.

  16. terryspear – USA Today bestselling author. Terry Spear never figured she would some day be writing novels about romantic werewolves! As an eclectic writer, she dabbles in the paranormal, historical, and true life stories for both teen and adult audiences. When she’s not writing, she makes original, award-winning teddy bears, enjoys gardening with her son and daughter, and visiting medieval renaissance and Highlander fairs.
    terryspear says:

    Lovely!

  17. randomthoughts – Philippines – Loves to take pictures, read, write, and run! Enjoys watching movies, dining at cozy coffee shops; engaging conversation with people, and discovering secret places only I can find. email: randomthougts323@gmail.com

  18. Exquisite! And thanks for visiting my site and posting a “like.”

But, as one other person commented, it would be nice if you had a “like” option as well.
