  1. tgedavis – Exploring ideas and techniques, worshipping nature, battling demons, escaping into fictions, illustrating taxonomies, capturing moments and mental states, commemorating places - these are some of the things that my lifelong commitment to visual art has involved so far. I sometimes feel very grateful to have this quiet way of engaging with the world.

A wonderful piece of fungal irony – and I think it says a great deal about the status of modern art. Time was we would say of an installation that it was ‘like a bracket mushroom’ or something, but now we all understand what it means to compare a mushroom to a generic abstract installation. For me, this is more proof that what was once fresh and thought-provoking in the modern art world often (not always) appears tired – a predictable and stereotypable formal exercise. As you so rightly say, nature has been playing with form for millions upon millions of years.

    1. Shellie Troy Anderson – Third generation Vancouverite whose sleepy home town transmogrified from a gorgeous backwater to a "world class city" backwater where nobody can afford to live. Yay . Current writing projects --if social media ever releases me from its grip-- include two novels which may never be finished, Op-eds for the Bridge River Lillooet News (now retired from the position), memoir, and two blogs--this one, and Emergency Kittens ~ Without the Kittens where I sporadically post from my thirty-year collection of photography. . Master of Fine Arts, Creative Writing, University of British Columbia . Bachelor of Arts, Major in English, Simon Fraser University

  3. Iris and The Very Hungry Entourage – Boston, New Hampshire – Even though I have a fantastic sense of direction, my life tends to follow a very convoluted path. I continue down this twisty road, making many stops along the way. I travel, and these days it is often with various members of the Very Hungry Entourage. You can find information and stories at www.veryhungryentourage.com. Professionally I work as a veterinarian, but lately I (happily) find myself spending much more time as a college professor. I love photography and hope to be good at it some day. I am a wife, a dog mom, a good friend, and a pretty funky Auntie. I tend to be a very, very talented eater. I sometimes think of myself as a homebody because being in the kitchen and in the garden are two activities that truly soothe my hyperactive mind. I have dreamt of becoming an artist, chef, musician, and athlete though attempts at any of these have lead to some pretty embarrassing moments. But I don't give up easily....

  4. nanciec13 – Wisconsin – I am a fabric artist and a retired professional minister in the Catholic Church. I am married for 40+ years to a most fabulous man. We have 4 adult children, 1 daughter-in-law, 1 son-in-law (who we also consider to our children!) and 4 grands. I love to weave, sew and design garments for myself; bead, read, write and color. I am also a spiritual Companion/Director and have a special place in my soul for women who are healing and in need of healing from trauma and abuse. I love coffee, quiet reflective prayer time at my kitchen table and long walks to breathe in the Holy Spirit. I would like to learn how to spin yarn and will someday create a spun, hand dyed/painted, beaded, woven fabulous garment of peace!

  6. dalecooper57 – Devon, England – dalecooper57 may or may not necessarily be my real name, although I couldn't swear to it. An aging hippy living in Devon, I do all this stuff (and I do mean everything - blog, animation, music, photography, the lot) on my lovely smartphone because I started like that, and now I'm too stubborn to get a computer. I don't have a theme, because I don't see why I'd want to talk about the same thing all the time, so why only write about one thing? So if you like eclecticism, humour, nonsense, opinionated ranting, and occasionally educational stuff, you've come to the right place. Any and all feedback is welcome, both positive and negative, on the content, style and overall look of the blog. You keep following me, I'll keep telling you stuff, ok? Cheers, dalecooper57

  10. charlottetrees – My Personal Assistant Renee's first goal was to subdue the painful spasming in my legs. She would make a poultice with her favorite alternative medicine and wrap my leg. And amazingly it worked 1. We've learned much from a naturopath who cured herself of MS. It might be a different kind and for advanced. We tried many alternatives and even tried to detox which was very hard on my body. A medical doctor who uses Alternatives himself introduced me to a new one just developed. And it made quite a difference in my life and continues.. I use other Alternatives from this company and other companies as well as organic food supplements. And the quality of my life continues to improve. Thanks to the food supplements my voice quality is improving. First thing I lost with the MS with my singing voice. Maybe I can sing again someday. Research research research. Try new things and listen to your body. Be cautious of chemicals and their side effects. More on that later. We want quality of life.

As a forester I learned the ever changing music of nature and seemed to carry it back to the city. I have no rhyme or reason. the mushroom is just a fruiting body . what we see is nothing compared to what lies beneath

  11. Robyn Haynes – Australia – Robyn enthusiastically pursues a green and writerly life on the north coast of New South Wales, Australia, where her background as a doctor of social anthropology equips her with an interesting slant on the human condition. She spends much time indulging a passion for her garden where she ponders life and attempts to stave off existential angst. In her more reflective moments she makes wry observations on courtyard gardening and its parallels with life.

  12. derrickjknight – UK – I am an octogenarian enjoying rambling physically and photographing what I see, and rambling in my head as memories are triggered. I also ramble through a lifetime's photographs. In these later years much rambling is done in a car.

A beauty – not easy to photograph

  13. Cynthia Guenther Richardson – Pacific NW – Hello fellow readers and bloggers, Writing has always been a powerful connector to diverse ideas and people. We each are a meaningful part of this beautiful, ever-widening web of life. Blogging enables more interaction, which I love even after 11 years of blogging posts on three different sites. For thirty years I was an addictions/mental health counselor and also a manager of home care services for elderly folks. Now that I have hit 70 and am more devoted to a creative life! I've published online or in literary journals/collections several times, including fiction and creative non-fiction pieces and poetry over five decades. Additionally, I was nominated for a Pushcart Prize for an excerpt of my novel-in-progress, Other than Words (the work gathering dust at present), about a mute dancer and her impact on her adopted community and a world-travelling photojournalist. I also am working on a connected set of stories about a close-knit town in northern Michigan. On Wordpress I enjoy writing about living richly despite (or because of) life's setbacks and a diagnosis of heart disease at age 51. Posts tagged "memoir" share spiritual adventures, interactions with nature, the healing of trauma's impact and challenges of writing full-time. Short stories and creative nonfiction, and poetry are favorite genres but I enjoy sharing my photography as well My hope is my offerings reflect a profound faith in God and our humanness which cloaks spiritual natures. I include myself as part of the diverse group of writers who discover and share the illuminating, positive experiences amid life's uncertainties and hardships. Let me hear from you when you visit--I appreciate your comments a great deal. Blessings and regards, Cynthia
