  1. Gill McGrath – UK – I am an artist. I love paper. I love using limited color/colour. I work quickly in oils and with pastels. Things close to hand make the best subjects for me. I write everyday.... shopping lists, to do lists, poetry of sorts... and a diary, often on the same page. And now I take photos everyday.....and I think I am a street photographer. I am 'In touch with Emma' at ~ gillmcgrath.com

  2. derrickjknight – UK – I am an octogenarian enjoying rambling physically and photographing what I see, and rambling in my head as memories are triggered. I also ramble through a lifetime's photographs. In these later years much rambling is done in a car.

    Very beautiful.

  4. At first I thought Kasco might be a Japanese woodblock artist. Not so much — but if they helped give rise to this, they’re to be celebrated. It’s perfect in every way — the very essence of heron.

  5. garytribble – Renton, WA, USA – Husband, father, foster parent, grandfather; Finance director (ret), non-profit board Treasurer; amateur artist, poet, and student of love and interior life

    Stunning!

This arrived on the very morning I’m to begin a discussion group for developing social/emotional, intellectual and moral growth. How perfect.

  6. marple25mary – Fifty-ish woman living in Oregon with my wonderful partner of 25 years and our two beautiful cats. I'm a little reclusive, happy, and trying to venture more outside my comfort zone. I'm opinionated, but easy going. This is an eclectic spot, and i have an interest in many subjects.. Two of my favorite things to do are to read and to write short fiction. The latter is mainly what you'll see here. I hope you enjoy reading my stories.

Magical indeed. Thank you for this.

  7. 2ndhalfolife – In the second (or really third?) half of my life now. Moving into the more crone stage: out of my head, into my soul. My magic is returning after many years of having lost it to the streets of life. There have been some very dark times, but these have made my journey rich with the stuff of possibility. Because out of darkness has come the glittering beauty of illumination. It has come with struggle and toil, and not without help--but I am here, and I am mostly in tact, and I'm here to share the rest of this journey with you all if you care to join me.......

  8. James King – Thailand – An Englishman who emigrated to South Africa in 1995, James King’s work took him all over the Country, visiting Cities, townships and rural areas, gaining valuable insight into the culture and lives of the people, post-apartheid.In 2011 James left South Africa for Thailand, where he learned landscape photography and writes literary fiction novels, poetry and short stories. Leading a well-travelled but somewhat fractured and unconventional life, James has mixed with politicians, sports stars, creatives, music impresarios, business tycoons, murderers, fraudsters, and even hired assassins. They have all provided rare material which he uses to great effect in his writing. Blogging, writing articles about Thailand and poetry, led to writing novels. With a literary bent, his character-driven stories are dramatic, suspenseful, thrilling and emotional. There are always romantic and sinister elements at play in his plots.James’ poetry drifts from the romantic to fear for the survival of our world, human rights and the darkness of death. Inspired by music, film, and literature. Shakespeare, Dickens, Hesse, Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, among others, have all had a profound influence on his life, his writing, and the messages within.

Lovely picture and words. I have been following you for some time but cannot see any way to LIKE your posts or to navigate your blog!!!!

  9. The colors are so subtle. If I had been there with you, I would never have seen them. With your camera, and patience, you open our eyes. Grateful here!

    1. P. S. In addition, “Kasco” (the name) led me to a broader perspective. Good teachers, you and your camera!

  10. ramaink – Creating from the Universe. We cannot perfect what is already sublime. We can only attempt to make it our own by adding our essence to it when it flows through us. What we create is a part of us and apart from us. It is deeply personal and yet Universal. It is our individual perception of the Divine and since no two individuals are alike, when we look at art, we should not look for 'perfection' but for that individual's expression of the idea. And since we are all a part of the same whole, the creative genius is in all of us. All we need to do is open up and accept the gift, humbly and graciously. Create not to impress or to win accolades, but, create, because you must.

Glorious!! This really makes me think of a poem by Mary Oliver called Egrets. Quoting a part of it below:
    “….Even half asleep they had
    such faith in the world
    that had made them
    and tilting through the water,
    unruffled, sure,
    by the laws
    of their faith not logic,
    they opened their wings
    softly and stepped
    over every dark thing.”

    1. Thank you. And thank you for sharing Mary Oliver’s words. I am an enormous admirer of her work.
