At The Edge Of A New Day I Wonder

what spirits reside
in that rising mist
what will they teach today?

the landscape sighs
making space
for the new year

morning comes
to the dahlia sun
rousing the sleeping bee

the earth awoke
with tiny blooms
as tulips trumpet spring

undaunted
spring’s victory crown
rises

rising
into flight
spirit casting shadow

lilies rose
the water bloomed
hope floats

The sun’s warming rays
reach the depths of the pond
summoning fish to the surface.
