  2. Tom's Nature-up-close Photography and Mindfulness Blog – My Blog primarily consists of close-up nature photos (that I've taken locally) combined with original holistic-truth oriented prose and/or poetry involving mindfulness/awareness. I love nature and I love understanding the whole (not merely the parts and the details). I'm a retired teacher of the multiply handicapped. I have a number of interesting hobbies, such as fossil collecting, sport-kite flying, 3D and 2D close-up photography, holography, and pets. Most of all, I am into holistic self-awareness, spontaneous insight, unconventional observation/direct perception, mindfulness, meditation, world peace, non-fragmentation, population control, vegetarianism, and green energy. 3. derrickjknight – UK – I am an octogenarian enjoying rambling physically and photographing what I see, and rambling in my head as memories are triggered. I also ramble through a lifetime's photographs. In these later years much rambling is done in a car.

    Lovely thought

  4. Beautiful. We have the same picture looking down the hill, but in our case the birds congregate along the top of two wych elms. A lay by for feathery travellers. Thank you for the image.

  5. Perfect title for the image, for the poem, and for both together! (Maybe for life in general too – which is a strong argument for art)

    1. Albert, thank you for your thoughtful words. Art is the thread that weaves life together.

  6. I think you have in your own way come upon an ancient combination we humans have done to celebrate spring. Swedes celebrate spring with a vase full of pussy willows to which florists have carefully tied colourful bird feathers. Not a coincidence, your vision and theirs matching from such seemingly different parts of the compass and the time grid. link to example: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-F5V_1r31qww/T2r6Uyw1_JI/AAAAAAAAB2k/2L2PzCQB5RU/s1600/BOUQUETmm.jpg

    1. Niaih, thank you so much for writing and making that connection! How wonderful to know the way the Swedes celebrate Spring. Best to you!

  7. The goal of this challenge is to post a black and white photo each day for five days and nominate someone each day.  Check out my other ones if you haven’t already: Day 1 and Day 2.

  10. 2ndhalfolife – In the second (or really third?) half of my life now. Moving into the more crone stage: out of my head, into my soul. My magic is returning after many years of having lost it to the streets of life. There have been some very dark times, but these have made my journey rich with the stuff of possibility. Because out of darkness has come the glittering beauty of illumination. It has come with struggle and toil, and not without help--but I am here, and I am mostly in tact, and I'm here to share the rest of this journey with you all if you care to join me.......

    I believe I heard a redwing today too! 🙂

  11. Thelonelywriterandmusician – Cebu, city Philippines – I have seen the world as something very depressing and frustrating that in my life all i asked was why is it hard for humans to become real humans.A life where hatred becomes superior and where home is in the woods where the silence screams the loudest and where darkness is light.I am in love with creative writing.I am into writing bizarre stories more about the unhappiness of the world, death, suicide.I sketch and draw more of what my dreams told me.I play the acoustic guitar, sing and and compose songs about sad realities in how i see them just like hatred in life, death and child labor.Music saved me from the insanity that used to be the conqueror of my whole being.Music and writing is my outlet of frustration, disappointments. It is my life and my religion and with it i am totally becoming who i want to be.Never in my life i dreamed to be famous,it only takes a single person who will tell me ''your works inspired me a lot'' for me to have a smile and contentment.I don't want to be an entertainer,i only want to be an inspiration and share to everyone how i see the world and its mystery.
    Thelonelywriterandmusician says:

As free as a bird..a bird who celebrates life and existence.A bird that somehow feels pain and loneliness but could not find ways on how to express it.Nice scene that shows nothing but life.

  12. NatureSpeak Photos – I take photos of nature as an amateur. That being so, I prefer not to edit the photos so that they retain their "naturalness". These photos, even though silent, tell us volumes about life, principles, ethics and harmony. Silence and nature; so much to experience, so much to learn...
    NatureSpeak Photos says:

That seems like a meeting place where the birds make important decisions… perhaps about the search for their “king”?

  13. firefly1275 – Louisiana – V. Rose enjoys creating mystical characters and worlds, with a touch of the modern day world. When she is not writing or thinking up her next story ideas, she is enjoying South Louisiana sunsets.
    firefly1275 says:

    Very nice and beautiful!

  14. jane tims – Canada – Hi. I am a writer and biologist. I am also interested in history and community sustainability. I write mostly poetry. My training is in botany, so I often include plants in my poems. Visit me at www.nichepoetryandprose.wordpress.com

  15. Dr. Denny Wilkins – Dr. Denny Wilkins professes journalism at a small, private university in the Northeast. He has climbed, hiked, kayaked, photographed, skied, and otherwise meandered aimlessly throughout the American West for decades. He has degrees in geology, environmental studies, and communication — and has tried to make use of them as a co-founder of the progressive cultural blog ScholarsandRogues.com. He’s broadly interested in how the world works and why it works that way. He hates writing, although he does like having written well.
    Dr. Denny Wilkins says:

Ah, the rewards of looking up from time to time … very nice image.
