Well. I always enjoy and get a little spark of happiness from your blog. But sometimes, like today’s post, it’s so perfect that it feels like magic. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work.
Hi again…I checked with my sister and this is what she said:
Monkshood – Aconitum napellus. Very poisonous but very common and very pretty.
So the 2 commenters were correct(monkshood and aconite are 2 of its names, as is wolf’s bane)
Lovely photo. Monkshood is very hardy. It survives -40 to – 60 degrees F in northeastern Ontario to reappear every year in our former home garden having stems with full blooms similar to Delphinium. Beautiful poem. Thank you.

Very nice and beautiful flower!
What an unusual flower – never seen it before. Was it wild? I love your last line, the flower knew your name and called out to you 🙂
Just saw that someone ID it as Monkshood – what a great name given the shape and color…
Love the color.
Glad you found each other

Downright Dickinsonian.
My favorite color …
The latin namn of this flower is Aconitum napellus. The Englund name is monkhood. Beautiful but toxic plant.
