  6. Helen DeRamus Artist – Marietta – I am a fine artist working in oil paint and creating drawings on paper. My primary medium is oil paint on cradled wood using cold wax medium. Work on paper, using India Ink and graphite is a major part of my practice. Drawings lead me to the development of ideas and though the drawings may stand alone, they also lead to larger work in oil. The smaller drawings are often used as an inspiration of larger drawings. My paintings are about all the visual scraps, translucent bits and pieces, and the neuronal fragments found in the layers of memory. Using the landscape as a metaphor, the paintings are excavated from my personal memories. Throughout the United States and Canada, I have paintings, prints, photographs, and works on paper included in corporate, public and private collections including: Jacksonville State University, Ventyx Corporation, Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, Georgia Perimeter College, North Georgia College and State University, The ART Station, the Ben Hill-Fitzgerald County Library, the Women's Center at Kennestone Hospital, the Atlanta Women's Foundation in Atlanta, Georgia, and Livingston College at Rutgers University in New Jersey. I am represented in Atlanta, Georgia by TEW Galleries, in Homestead, Alabama by Art Alley and In Saugatuck, Michigan by ROAN & BLACK contemporary gallery. My studio is located in the Artisan Resource Center in Marietta, Georgia a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia.

  8. michaelmulholland – Los Angeles, California – Michael Red Crow Mulholland ASCAP www.MichaelMulholland.com www.Sector7Studio.LA MulhollandMusic@aol.com Sector7Studio@aol.com Award Winning ~ Singer ~ Songwriter ~ Film Composer ~ Photographer Biography There is an easygoing confidence about Michael Mulholland with no trace of the swagger, one would expect from a recording artist who has made an impression in both the Music and Film & Television Industry, who has achieved notoriety and performed at innumerable standing-room-only shows. So how did Michael Mulholland make music and translate them to an unwavering audience? The answer is in his Songs & Scores. Quite simply and honestly, Michael defies categorization. He imaginatively reshapes and colors music and poetic landscapes...an uncharted terrain. Diverting as it may seem, Michael does not write music pre-conceptually, it just comes out. He says, "I spent my whole life catching songs thrown out to me, creating as a child...even though art was always in my environment, I never did it because I was a musician, I did it because it is in my heart." Michael's songs & scores are significant for their content and composition. Michael's songs reflect the plain-spoken wisdom of his upbringing. They are an intimate journey of the pains and joys of life as seen through the eyes of a person who has abundantly experienced them both. More than any other single factor... it is the square dealing of the unadorned truth and time-worn tradition that draws listeners to the music of Michael Mulholland. There are voices that leave lasting impressions upon the listening ear, and Michael’s is one of them! After all, Michael Mulholland is, as he is quick to point out, just a guy who sings. Making records since he was twelve, touring since sixteen, Michael found himself on the forefront of his career, Los Angeles, California. He has since recorded and performed with such friends as Medicine Wheel (Marc Ferrari), Jeff Watson (Night Ranger), Atomic Tommy McClenden (UFO), Eric Turner & Jerry Dixon (Warrant), SteelHeart, producer Pat Regan (Deep Purple, Kiss, Doro Pesch), Jan Buckingham with sound recordings: Pam Tillis, Whitney Houston, Melissa Manchester, Englebert Humperdink, George Jones, Lee Greenwood, Gary Morris & Crystal Gale, Rebe Jackson, Air Supply etc., Skip Edwards: Keyboards for Dwight Yoakam, and Marty Rifkin, a well respected multi-instrumentalist and producer, who has acclaimed award status for "Best Pedal Steel Player." Playing pedal steel, guitar, dobro and numerous other instruments, Marty has recorded with such notable artists as Bruce Springsteen (The Ghost of Tom Joad & Bruce Springsteen Tracks), Jewel (Spirit), Tom Petty (Wildflowers), Dwight Yoakam (A Long Way Home & Come On Christmas), Chris Perez (Resurrection), Smokey Robinson and many others. During the summer of 1999, Michael was nominated for several categories in Nashville's Online Country & Tracker Magazine Country Music Artist Award Show. A fan voter based award show proving Michael to be one of a kind...Michael, someone who calls his fans friends, set a whole new set of standards showing just how many votes one can receive. A silent voice speaks, "I cannot believe how many votes this guy got!" Michael may just go ahead and run for President! Nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year, Male Rising Star, Album of the Year, & Artist Web Site of the Year, it was truly an honor for Michael to bring home the highest award offered, "Male Vocalist of the Year 1999", along with "Country Artist Web Site of the Year 1999!" Awards and Honors: On Jan. 26, 2008 Michael Mulholland received the Gold Medal for Artistic Excellence at the 5th annual Park City Film Music Festival for his musical score and end credits song for the short film Reflections. The Park City Film Music Festival takes place in Park City, Utah and runs concurrently with the world famous Sundance Film Festival. This is the only film festival in the world singularly recognizing the contribution of composers and their music to film, and the first of such festivals in the Americas . Awards are given in the categories of Best Use of Music in Full-Length Feature Film, Best Use of Music in Documentary Film, and Best Use of Music in Short Film. The first major film festival to recognize film music as part of the awards lineup since 1985 is the Flanders International Film Festival - Ghent , which currently draws over 80,000 devotees. Film music, whose broad appeal continues to gain prominence in the music marketplace, has stood for a long time recognized only at the very highest levels: the Academy awards, the Emmys, the Grammys, and a few others. The growing stature of film music is exemplified in the announcement in 2005 of the Pulitzer prizes qualifying film music for the first time after over 60 years. The pcFMF burst on the scene in 2004 and is the brainchild of Ms. Leslie Harlow who has been operating the Park City International Music Festival for over 23 years. A Juilliard graduate, she and her husband, festival director Russell Harlow, a member of the Utah Symphony, are both prominent classical artists. This year's festival featured 102 films, 66 of which were short films. It conveys all the heartache and all the soul that a classic country song deserves. Obviously you've surrounded yourself with seasoned players. Everyone is playing the appropriate parts that fit the style. No gimmicks just solid traditional performances. Country music remains to be a vital and lucrative market. It continues to outsell many trend-orientated markets. It obviously represents a large population of Americans who love an honest to goodness heartfelt song. You fit solidly in that market place. You have a strong voice, a good image and strong song sensibilities. This is a very strong track. If you're as strong in a live setting I think you'll have a strong chance of breaking through. I’ve heard Michael and, I paid attention. There simply aren't many great modern pop country crooners that I find as convincing as I find Michael. This is the music he was born to sing. He's fused a couple of elements together, maybe a few elements. He simply defies categorization within new/modern country music today. He reminds me a lot of the male counterpoint to Mary Chapin-Carpenter, fusing pop sensitivities on top of folk, rock and country. His music goes down sweetly, but not to the point of it just being ear candy. If fact, for those looking for some seriously fine production, this is very nicely done. The fiddle solo in "Candy Coated Kisses" comes across very nicely on the stereo. The Man has a sense of where his more apparent influences come from as well. The high flying "Eagles / Pure Prairie League" country rock in "As Good As It Gets," demands a "sit up and pay attention here," as I sit wandering aimlessly thru songs on MP3.com. "Stones Throw Away" comes blasting right up and out, Michael turning in a tour de force performance about getting married. "We Gotta Stop Meeting Like," represents an enigmatic movement in the opening passages of the song with Michael stretching the limits of his tender twang into a yearning boy falls in love with girl power ballad. Sweet song Michael, no wonder you are doing so well. Congrats dude. This is Grade A Pro Critic Choice music or, to coin a phrase, this is "As Good As It Gets." Review: Chris K. Michael says it all, "I never did it because I was a musician, I did it because it was in my heart." This one very simple quote flows throughout the entire CD of beautifully constructed songs and amazing creativity, an emotional exploration topped with musical perfection. Incorporating his Cherokee roots and a lifetime of spirituality, Michael has taken his path in this world led by the advice of his guides. They have served him well, and he has above all kept a personal honesty to himself to bring to us the finest in country/rock music. Unlike majority of country releases I review, this one has more substance than just slide guitar and an overdrive of fast paced harmonica solo features. This release has just the right balance of harmony, a great production but enough raw overtones to be clear of all the usual fancy studio candy that too often destroys good music these days. I would consider this CD to be one of the 'best' that Country music, particularly in the US, has on the retail shelves. Michael is a breath of fresh country air all in one jewel case, with an exceptionally handsome young man, Michael Mulholland, peering at us seductively on the front cover. Check him out! The Bass Player, Australia! The song "Little Thing’s" is the hit! The subject matter, (people need to keep it in mind...it is the truth) lyrically it works, great flow, instrumentally, and the melody soothes the soul! Vocally, Michael shows his range and his passion shines! The technical aspects are right on, all 4 elements are there, blending into one great song that reaches out to the listener and reels them in and touches their heart! "Anonymous" I AM IMPRESSED!!! I've been writing for 20 years and Michael's delivery of "little things" has introduced me to another top favorite Artist. Gary Allan, Roy Orbison (Rest his Soul), George Strait, all have nothing on you young man. Keep up the fabulous singing and recording. Michael, you have something to give to the world! I just can't say enough, you floored me! "Anonymous" "Just want to say that I wish Mr. Mulholland all the best as the years pass in the music, but more importantly in life. As a singer myself, Michael Mulholland captures the true meaning of singing and realizes that music is a reflection of life and all that it has to offer. To just sing is one thing, but to share emotion in singing is musical freedom." Charles Langley Member of Actors Equity Association-AEA Country Review.com, " he says his reason for creating music isn't because he's a musician, nor is it for the sole purpose of "getting paid". Michael Mulholland writes songs because it's in his heart." Like a wave caught on a current, but with no choice to go where it’s led, he follows the music along winding paths, trusting it will take him to the place he's meant to be. These days, the place Michael seems meant to be the most is on a joyous ride of success. Having received many award nominations by the Online Country & Indie Tracker Magazine, not to mention having won the trophies for Male Vocalist and Country Artist Website of the Year (1999), this singer/songwriter has already made a name for himself as a flourishing independent artist and established songwriter. While his singing has garnered attention on numerous web sites and charts, his songwriting credits can be found in film productions such as Under Siege II starring Steven Segal ("Blue Over You"), Life With Mikey starring Michael J. Fox ("Flying Blind"), Chevy Chase's Man Of The House ("In Confusion") and Vegas Vacation ("In Confusion"), among others. Working alongside notable producer/multi-instrumentalist Marty Rifkin, Mulholland continues his successful trek with six additional songs he has penned for his latest album. From the mid tempo "Candy Coated Kisses" to the compelling rhythm of "The Next Step", the entire album show cases the California native's Garth-like vocals, as well as his obvious skill of expressing his thoughts and feelings through song. On "Little Things", the album's second number, Michael uses his distinctive expression to sing of the things that mean the most in love and life — while "Stones Throw Away", the following song of the ensemble, compliments the song with hopes for bigger things that are just a "Stones Throw Away". "The Show", a nicely performed ballad that first caused us to notice a similar vocal style between Mulholland and Garth Brooks, tugs on emotional heartstrings with a tale of lost love stealing the show in a relationship. Being high on love with a tempo to match, "As Good As It Gets" is the exact opposite of "The Show", and it is also the song to prepare for the album's finale. Many may come and go within the music industry, trying to succeed by ambition alone, but there are few who strive because it's in their heart. Michael Mulholland is one of those people, and we look forward to hearing more from this new star on the rise...CountryReview.com © The Michael Mulholland Company ~Sector 7 Studio ~ Cherokee Trail / Sacred Pipe Music Publishing & Licensing ~ Songs & Scores Catalog All Rights Reserved. Awesome photo, M.

  10. A friend of mine in upstate New York, just posted a photo of a fawn under a car. I guess the does drop their babies off where they believe it’s safe and the fawns won’t leave until the mom comes back. They’re just so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

  11. Love! Just saw a brand new babe ourselves two days ago – thought something very similar. 🙂

  12. Rene Yoshi – Just a transplanted Okinawan-French Southern girl with a wee bit o' Irish, sharing photography and what I'm learning about spiritual things, including putting off legalism and religious traditions, and embracing God's matchless love, tender mercy, and amazing grace!
    Rene Yoshi says:

    Awww… so adorable! What a blessing! 🙂

Welcome to the world little one. Enjoy!

  14. firefly1275 – Louisiana – V. Rose enjoys creating mystical characters and worlds, with a touch of the modern day world. When she is not writing or thinking up her next story ideas, she is enjoying South Louisiana sunset.
    firefly1275 says:

    Oh, very beautiful little fawn!

  15. Dr. Denny Wilkins – Dr. Denny Wilkins professes journalism at a small, private university in the Northeast. He has climbed, hiked, kayaked, photographed, skied, and otherwise meandered aimlessly throughout the American West for decades. He has degrees in geology, environmental studies, and communication — and has tried to make use of them as a co-founder of the progressive cultural blog ScholarsandRogues.com. He’s broadly interested in how the world works and why it works that way. He hates writing, although he does like having written well.
    Dr. Denny Wilkins says:

This is wonderful. I have two fawns crossing through my yard to the woods these days, morning and evening, with mom and dad …

  16. LB – I'm a woman who loves spending time on the motorcycle and in, or on, any body of water. I love traveling and reading, baking and cooking, taking way too many pictures, and enjoying my family and friends. Life is an adventure, and I want to remember and express my joy for it! This is a journal for me ... so I'll never forget the good times and to remind me of them on more challenging days.
    LB says:

Oh my … so, so fresh, new, innocent

  17. 2ndhalfolife – In the second (or really third?) half of my life now. Moving into the more crone stage: out of my head, into my soul. I am revisiting this blog after many years, many life changes and challenges and finding myself surrounding by joy and resilience. Join me for the transformation and transition.
    2ndhalfolife says:

Wow! The Universe knows your talent and graced you with this sweet baby to see! Once I saw some up close and personal…they have blue eyes!

  18. Studio_34 – Studio City, Ca. USA – My passion from an early age has been art and its various forms of creation. Some of my most poignant memories come from musing the halls and collections of the world‘s museums. When I was 16 my grandmother took me to Europe to culture me. When we went to Leningrad Russia and the Hermitage my world view changed and I knew standing in front of the huge Titian of Bacchus and Ariadne I needed to study and learn how to an artist. It worked my grandmother cultured me as did the Hermitage and Louvre.
    Clay Bernard III says:

sweetness and true love in the eyes of the fawn…nice shot
