Hi Seedbud, Beautiful Indian Paintbrush! I used to live in N.E. Texas long ago and enjoyed seeing these flowers. Have a wonderful day tomorrow!

    2. creativeintrospection – Cape Town South Africa – I'm a teacher in real life, an artist at heart and a poet clandestinely. As a Language Lover I've always enjoyed playing with words, turning them over, toying with their layered meanings, their subtle or sharp edge, their ability to wound or heal... And I haven't always chosen to play with them responsibly. Regrettably, I've often been careless with words...and in the process, l've learnt their value. Now I'm a bit more reflective, a bit more aware, maybe a bit too serious? Anyway, this is a natural extension of that enjoyment. Playing in an open space with the encryptions that make up the expression of thought, observation, reflection. An exercise in creative introspection...

  3. Guila Greer – Tarzana, California – I first learned how to sew as a child on my mom’s old treadle Singer (and wish that I knew where that machine is now!). While going to school, raising a family and enjoying two satisfying careers I continued developing my skills with all kinds of needlecrafts and eventually discovered the magic of quilting. Soon I began to stretch my imagination and creativity. This led to an interest in art quilting and I've been busy soaking up all kinds of techniques and adapting them to my creations. Now, I find myself on a journey to uncover, develop and to express the inner artist that I have so joyfully let loose. I have also learned that there truly are no "quilt police" when it comes to one's personal expression of creativity; no right or wrong way. It just has to feel right and look right to you. It is all a voyage of discovery. I just can’t imagine doing anything else. I have shown in both local Fine Art Galleries and in Quilt Shows across the United States. I am the author of the blog: The Mystical Allure of All Things Fiber since 2007. See: http://guilagreerart.com

* * * * * GUIDO COMIN – aka PoetaMatusèl – was born in 1951 in Meano di Santa Giustina, a pretty little village, as yet unspoilt by property developers, near Belluno, in north-eastern Italy. After a lifetime spent doing the most disparate types of work in Germany, Switzerland, England and Denmark, he returns to his native Italy in the year 2000. Rediscovering his mother tongue – Italian – gives up almost entirely writing in other European languages, to concentrate on poetry in Italian and, very occasionally, in his native dialect. (The nom de plume PoetaMatusèl means “Poet, a bit nutty” in his dialect.) He deliberately writes poetry that is easily accessible for anyone, purposely avoiding elitist or excessively “literary” forms or vocabulary. Even though he has been writing poetry since his childhood days, PoetaMatusèl has not published in paper form yet, but only on blogs and other online platforms. He has recently received a flattering proposal from a publisher. He regularly reads his poetry at poetry evenings and other events, often with his performing poetry group – POETI AlterNATIVI BELLUNesi – a bunch of poet friends, who have decided to get together to try and give Poetry a better name among ordinary people!
    PoetaMatusel says:

Lovely to find a poet who shares my love of Nature and photography of it!! Beautiful, inspiring photos!! And thank you for liking my blog! My *German* poems?? :O) Bis bald …

  19. michaeldouglasbosc – catalunia – I am retired and live with my wife on a small olive finca in the middle of a forest in the mountains of Spain in Catalonya. I served 9years in the armed services, am an engineer and because of my love of navy sailing ships a naval historian of the 1700-1800's, plus the author of 10 books. When I retired I started writing adult books my first being A Soldiers Wind. Then came Stanley's story again adult books such was his life. Another book on life in the 1950's this very much an adult book. I have now returned to my love of the sea and my latest navy book 'A Plymouth Story' follows the life of Dr James Blackstock. But Clearing In The Forest is an historical fantasy set in the middle ages at the end of King Johns reign. All the books are published on Kindle and Create a Space in paperback. I have worked all my life and for relaxation I sailed a coastal yacht for many years, but deep inside me was a writer waiting to get out. So when I retired I started writing I find story telling both relaxing and - for me - a pleasure.
    michaeldouglasbosc says:

If this picture is a painting it is brilliant as I did think it might be a photograph. It is calming, colourful and has a depth that tends to draw you into the field searching for something you know is there but cannot quite see. I could study it for hours well done.

  21. fineartgreetings – I am a suburban bush girl who cares for the elderly residents of Howard County, Maryland. I am an assisted living manager of Angels Alert III of Elkridge, Maryland. Advocating for senior citizens for the past sixteen years is a joy and priviledge. I am grateful being able to serve others and I've gained so much wisdom from being around the wise ones. For pleasure and for a little profit, I enjoy creating mixed media ART pieces using traditional paint, pencil, textiles, digital photos, and Corel Painter software. I like observing nature, capturing fleeting moments with my camera. Using art as a means to document the subtle beauty of life is therapeutic for me. My aim is to celebrate the everyday details and times in life through accessible art. Each piece that is produced is in honor of each day that is granted to me. Being thankful and grateful are keys to happiness. Producing small art pieces in the form of greeting cards, post cards and the like allow for easy acquisition and "spiritual consumption." Because art has a way of transcending the material (if it is effective). It can be healing, uplifting, and a token of inner joy.
    fineartgreetings says:

    That is really lovely.

  24. K.A. Renninger – I am an artist who paints in many mediums, but my first love is sketching. I enjoy doing a variety of subjects, but am especially drawn to the beautiful old farm buildings in the Maryland/Pennsylvania area. Animals and still life are also favorites. Among my first artistic endeavors, (somewhere around the age of 4), was a mural in red crayon just above the baseboard in my mother's living room. Needless to say, this attempt at expressing myself didn't go over well with her. However, she did encourage me to keep on creating------on the appropriate substrate, that is.

  34. Lugar and Company – Southaven, Mississippi – Shave some crayons on a piece of wax paper. Sandwich the shavings into between two sheets of the paper and plug in the iron. Lightly press and wah lah! Watch the colors mix and weave into a new creation. Call it Art… or Call it Life. It’s a picture of life, isn’t it? Colors, as in experiences, all washing together, merging to create lights and darks. Swirls of light trip and curtsy over impish dark blotches. In simple and complicated mixes, days sing in birdsong after the night hangs rinsed in sunrise. Having lived over a decade in South Korea and a stint in Hong Kong these deep southern roots from Montgomery, Ala have delved richly into Asia and beyond. As I now work with placing teachers in jobs overseas (Turkey, China, Malyasia, Indonesia and Central Asia) the colors continue to swirl in varigated life experiences. Some things to blog about, other than color? Our family of five, travels, Oasis International Schools, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Well, that’s a good start and did I mention that I love words and flowers? But most importantly the fact the He has risen puts all else in focus. The fact that the “I am” still is, breathes life into even the most hopeless of motifs. Oasis HR job by day, art by night, life continues as a celebration. Everyday colors push kaleidoscope-like into imagination, sprouting in fresh ideas. Every morning births new layers of a watercolor wash, both in life…and art. He said so, "Mercy and goodness shall follow me, all of the days of our lives." Just turn around... blessings are in chase of our very souls! For my original art for sale (mostly prints) please visit my Etsy site: www.simplybarefoot.etsy.com I'd be tickled for you to stop by the shop! (Please know that all images of photos and art are mine and may not be copied without permission from me, the sole owner. )

I'm an uncommon mashup of South meets East...magnolia and cherry blossoms, fried chicken and sushi, haiku and bluegrass. I was born into an old, eccentric Southern family; not the dark Faulkneresgue kind family, more like the Addams family with a drawl. Poet, ex-chef, perpetual student of life, writer, romantic yet pragmatic. I love sci fi, fantasy, Star Trek (I have several uniforms from engineering services), New Orleans, and my southern heritage. I've worked as a bartender, freelance food stylist and photographer, autopsy photographer, chef and escaped from that to cook food I love for people I love, social worker, infrastructure engineer and lately, into pharmacy. A true Scorpio, I seem to re-invent myself every few years as life dictates. I worte my first haiku when I was six and have a long, deep love of Japan. I've traveled extensively all over the US and Canada, UK, Europe, Asia. I went to Woodstock and don't remember a thing! Particle physics and origami make me smile. Guided equally by Bushido and the 10 Commandments. I am a firm believer that it is important to always be kind but it isn't always important to be right. I have started a new poetry only blog: Aki no Koe - voice of autumn. Blessings and grins to you all!

Several Sydney libraries have copies of some volumes, and they are currently on loan.My books are all listed by Goodreads. The total number of ratings of my titles there is in excess of 80, with an average of 4.4 stars. 67. solarbeez – Oregon Coast – I'm a gardener and a newbie beekeeper, using a Warre hive and carved log hives named Bee Beard, Bee-atrice, and Grand Kids Log Hive. I'm trying the 'natural' method of keeping bees...little intervention, no miticides, no antibiotics, no feeding (log hive). My bees all came from swarms. I've never been accused of being a good writer, but I love to take photos and talk about them. When the sun is out and the bees are flying it's hard to get any work out of me...my wife will attest to that.

  104. MJF Images – American Pacific Northwest – A photographer and writer, I have been a geologist and also a science teacher in the past. I am a diehard explorer, traveler, and nature lover who lives in Portland, Oregon. I'm curious and excited about most things around me, especially people, natural science and diverse cultures. My photography tends toward landscape, nature/wildlife, and people (candid and lifestyle). But I'm always exploring new subjects. This blog will be about the story behind the pictures, but not generally about the photography behind the pictures. There will be talk of photo techniques only on Friday Foto Talk installments. Most times I will feature aspects of the places and people themselves, not like so many blogs just the photography. I'll be giving some practical advice on visiting the areas I photograph, so it might look a bit like a travel blog at times. But I will also go into the geology for landscapes, into natural history for wildlife and nature, into culture both modern and ancient for travel/people, and so on. I won't be giving you a blow-by-blow on how I took the picture, and never will I be a cheerleader for a certain type of gear, don't worry. I hope you enjoy it, and remember, keep exploring this beautiful world we share, and take good care of it too!

  107. Cheri Isgreen – I have been a lifelong rider and horse lover. I got my first "horse" at a yard sale; it was a pony actually. It was sometime in the early 60's. I was in 3rd or 4th grade. The pony was perhaps $10. My sister, brother, and I pooled our money and led him home. At the time my parents were traveling, and my Uncle Bill promptly made us return it. (stay tuned...more to come...)

Sometimes I take photos in series to tell a story or show different sides of a subject. In my retirement years I would love to travel more, meet new people and photograph all aspects of life. I love to read, sew, make silk flower arrangements, listen to jazz and praise and worship music. 160. Hi – I came to your blog because you were kind enough to like one of my posts and for some reason I started on this page. I’m a gardener here in England and this cheerful personality grows both wild and in gardens. One of its many names, here at least, is Fox and cubs … possibly because the main plant, in the centre, is bigger – watching over? – the smaller ones round its feet…

    1. And thank YOU for the additional information! Your blog is quite lovely.

      1. How kind – it’s very early days yet, but with luck and a few not so gentle reminders, some of the other friends will start posting soon and it’ll get more interesting…

    2. hi! Thanks for all your comments along the way. I hear you are having a bit of a heat wave. We certainly are. A very unusual summer for us in the northeast – very high heat and a tremendous amount of rain. I haven’t heard the name “fox and cubs” I love all the different names for plants. Happy blogging and gardening. Very Best, Seedbud.

      1. Hi – our heatwave comes without rain this year – at least so far – but last summer was incredibly wet. Checking out photographs of this time last year, we were paddling round in a sea of mud. Strange times …but never dull! T.

  161. laurieanichols – My lovely wife, unfortunately, and devastatingly, past away due to horrible complications due to cancers at 49 in late February 2017. 162. Very beautiful… but, isn’t that hawkweed? We have that flower here, but also Indian Paintbrush which looks like a paintbrush dipped in paint. I know there are many species of Paintbrush, as well as regional differences in names. I hope you won’t mind my asking, because it really is a lovely picture 🙂

  163. Thank you for commenting on my “Lean on Me” trellis. I just started that blog yesterday so I was pleasantly surprised to get a comment so soon. It might take me a while to get up to speed. I’ve been writing online articles on Squidoo and Bubblews for some time, but this is my first blog.
I love your Indian Paintbrush photo!

  164. Wendy Premo Larson – Born a Yooper, now stuck in Iowa, photography is my passion. I would love to travel the world, camera in hand. I'd rather be sitting out in the middle of nature than in a room full of people, in any weather conditions. I'm married to my soul mate, have two incredible adult children and am a Medical Technologist of 30+ years. I believe every living thing deserves our respect and consideration. I don't believe any human being is 'above' or 'below' another and everyone should be treated with dignity and respect regardless of race, sex, age, genetics, religion, disabilities, financial means, sexual orientation, etc. I truly believe one day humans will find the right answers to all the problems that face us as a species by putting organized religion aside and replace it with a true understanding, respect and love for one another. I believe someday war and conflict will be eradicated from this world because we will learn to love our children more than possessions, power and control. Finally, I welcome you to my blog, wishing you peace, love and strength. I hope my writings and photos enhance your life in some measure, bringing a smile to your face and/or something new to think about.

  170. Patricia Awapara – I was born in Lima, Peru. Moved to US when I was 16 years old. English is not my first language, but I love it. Just don’t ask me to pronounce the word cop, cup, or cap… I promise, it will all sound the same. I graduated on 2005 as a Graphic Designer, but I realized my passion was painting after taking one class. I registered at Florida International University to continue my education in Fine Arts (BFA). I finally quit my day job to do what I love. I am Painting, learning and enjoying the process. It is a humbling experience and grateful for every moment of my Life! Best Wishes to all! Love, Thank you for visiting!
    Patricia Awapara says:

Wonderful piece! 😀 Thanks for stopping by my blog.
    Blessings!

  171. apiarylandlord – Buckinghamshire – Definitely past it - whatever it was - I may have blinked and missed it. New to beekeeping and totally entranced by the experience. That is probably all you need to know until I work out how secure this blog is. Great fan of recycling - see ilovefreegle.org to find your local group. Save things from landfill. Pass on your surplus, locally, for free or ask for things you need in case you can have someone's cast off again for free.
    apiarylandlord says:

I know the Indian paintbrush from the Canadian Rockies where my sister lives. This made me remember some good times with her so thanks.

  172. Hi there, I have grown this plant but have not seen this in the wild. Always interesting to see a garden plant (for me in the uk), in its natural habitat.

  173. The background green color makes the yellow/orange flowers outstand beautifully. By the way, thanks for liking my photo post “Flora”
    Kind greetings,
    marianne

  174. Another good one. You would love “Making Love With Light” by John Daido Loori. He was a zen priest and the abbot of a zen monastery in NY. He was a photographer and a poet. Here’s a sample of one of a caption for one of his photos.

    “Green threads
    of river grasses
    slip into the sliding waters.”

Then you’ve come to the right place! Some days the skies are blue, without a cloud in sight. At other times, it’s as if we’ve been hit by a hurricane of the unexpected and it leaves us reeling. Let me reassure you that no matter the storm; you will make it through if you cling to the Rock that is higher than you are. I pray that you will draw strength for the journey!
    Jenny Farrell says:

  180. alexisradikal – I'm a tiny white rabbit, living in the virtual reality of Second Life. I'm happily married to a wolf (of course!) and I'm also a designer of tiny clothing and a DJ. I hope to document some of the peaks and troughs of living in a virtual reality and introduce others to "Tiny Culture", a reality (?) all of its own!
    alexisradikal says:

Lovely picture, don’t think we get those flowers here, but at least I can enjoy them on your page. Glad you liked my pics too. 🙂

  181. Laura Hunt, Artist – Fort Worth, Texas – Several themes are evident in my figurative art. Human relationships. Human emotion. Social issues. Empathy. But no matter what the specific painting’s theme, the telling of universal stories through archetypal figures unifies the work. These characters invite the observer into the narrative to understand and to empathize. My influences and inspirations include American folk and tribal art of the Americas and Africa, the figurative paintings of David Park and David Bates, and the Abstract Expressionists.
    SeptemberArt says:

I’ve grown up in Texas seeing these flowers, and I enjoyed your reminder of their beauty.

  182. Enviroart – Montréal, Québec, Canada – Visual artist, writer, biologist, blogger, mindful, mother, conflicted, constantly curious and learning

  184. 67merrill – Taos, NM – Check out my new YouTube short videos at: https://www.youtube.com/@LJM-67chs You can find the links to purchasing my books on Amazon on the Community page of the Youtube channel. Help me grow the channel by subscribing and liking and sharing! I am a long-time artist and more recent writer. I've published three books—Secret Voices from the Forest: Thoughts and Dreams of North American Trees, with work begun on the fourth. Not just the physicality of them, but their views on life and their place in the world. Yes, I actually talk to the trees. Not as nutty as you may think, and I say that as a Mid-westerner. Non-confrontational environmentalist. Exploring the world of aging, hopefully gracefully. Came to live near Taos, NM, USA in 1997, where I built an off-grid straw bale house at least partially by myself. Not so great at laying slab or putting on roofs. At the moment, there are 2 cats here with me. I don't let them out, cause they eat everything that won't eat them first, and it's just too brutal. I'm a cusp (Taurus/Gemini) and truly am of two minds about whether we're going to make it much longer as a species. So I try to stay positive about the news, although it's getting more difficult all the time. One bright spot is the messages from the trees, which are unfailingly zen. They are great teachers, and do keep me from going the depression route, cause I don't believe anger/blame/futility from me is going to make the world a better place.
    67merrill says:

I like the way you see things.

  185. Maggie Beck – We wear so many hats! I am a wife, a mother, a grandmother. I teach, garden, and scuba dive. Perhaps it is because of the complexity of life that I love the simplicity of the tideline so much. The ocean has always been a place of peace for me - yes, even after hurricanes. Now, learning to look closely, it is even more so.
    Maggie says:

You are so kind to like my photos so often on Tide Line Still Life! Today your notice of my photo on Bimbling Along really blessed me. Thanks so much! Best, Maggie

  186. Thanks for stopping around at my blog, great to see you there, and good to look at your pictures too… Tony

  187. paperwitheverything – I'm an artist, a maker, a learner. I like exploring new techniques in art and trying my hand at them. Writing is something I do to get ideas and stories out of my head before they take me over completely. There are two grown sons I keep close to my heart and a husband I am grateful to wake up next to every morning. I also believe there is too much of the sad, mean, and ugly going around so I like painting and making happy things. Life is too short to dwell on things that don't give joy.
    paperwitheverything says:

Beautiful! I’m glad you didn’t stop at capturing beauty and instead enhanced it with poetry!

  188. Hmmmm, this is very different from what I know as Indian Paintbrush. I know this sweet little wildflower as orange hawkweed. When it grows in large patches, they dance beautifully in the breeze on their tall stems.
    Thanks for visiting GetTheDirt!

Hobbies include collecting baseball cards, doing puzzles and writing short stories and a couple of small books.

Thank you for the like on Botanical Garden – Cactus Flower 1.

  196. skgimages – New Jersey – I am a wife, mother, grandmother, photographer, writer, and… Photography has opened my eyes to the world around me, has taught me to see things differently and to make observations I would have so easily missed before. With these new insights come new experiences and emotions that cry out for expression. I became interested in photography as an attempt to capture those ‘precious moments in time’ that only another new grandparent could truly understand. That was twenty years ago. Now, as a senior, and caregiver to my husband who is recovering from a stroke he suffered over a year ago, those ‘precious moments’ seem so all important to remember. I began to write verse, as a means of expression, after the attacks of 9/11. I have never been one to overtly show my emotions; but as I travel this new emotional roller coaster, I have learned that emotions are just a part of each of us, they need not be justified and it helps when I share. Photography and writing have been my voice of expression. I would hope that sharing these works can help enrich the lives of others as well and I urge all to look into my pictures and beyond my words to find their own story. Appreciation and interpretation take root from past experiences, present circumstances, and current frame of mind. If we are to stay well and be successful, it is essential that we learn to accept, understand, and come to terms with our own emotions while maintaining control and taking responsibility for our actions. I believe that how we react to something is much more important than the event itself. My work offers me a sense of control in an otherwise chaotic world. Other of my works may be found at: http://www.skgimages.com and http://www.poetrysoup.com/me.SkG. My new book, “From My Heart” will soon be available on Amazon and Xlibris.

  198. Thank you for visiting my blog. My UK coast and seaside paintings are quite a contrast to your great snow covered images. Nice to see that white flower forcing its way through, a reminder that Spring is not too far away. I think maybe we both have images that surprise and delight.

  199. fgassette – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – I am retired from PPG Industries, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am the mother of one child, a daughter and a grandmother of three. I have a ministry called Stand In The Gap where I make silk flower arrangments that are given for free to those sick in the hospital. I love to take photographs of people, places and things, to capture the joys, excitement and sometimes sorrows of life. I like to document my photos with information or historical facts, if possible. Sometimes I take photos in series to tell a story or show different sides of a subject. In my retirement years I would love to travel more, meet new people and photograph all aspects of life. I love to read, sew, make silk flower arrangements, listen to jazz and praise and worship music. I am a follower of Jesus Christ and strive to use the teachings of the Bible in my everyday walk through life. I hope this blog will cover my journey and be a source of inspiration to those who read or view the photos posted. I also made a Wordpress commitment to postaweek in December of 2011, that I wish to continue in the following year. To God the glory! Be Encouraged! Be Blessed!

  200. thisworldasiseeit – Learning life is a journey of unexpected twists and turns. None of which I could have traveled without my Lord and Savior. God gifted me a beautiful daughter..one I was told I could never have. In this gift came a great deal of commitment and grew a love in my heart that only compares to the love I have for my Savior. It has been a journey and continues to be one lead with prayer daily. Each day truly is a new gift, especially when your beautiful child fights autoimmune disease daily.

  206. susanissima – I am one who as a toddler crossing the BIG WATER was so tossed and jostled on a Stuttgart-bound ocean liner that a new verb, bimbam, was created. “No bimbam, Mommy!” In Germany, I watched our housekeeper spill black ink on my mother’s white linen tablecloth, causing cacophonic chaos and also an exquisite Rorschach. These indelible experiences continue to manifest themselves in my love of travel, language and art.
