winter’s day
the sun and moon
transposed
Hard Won Purchase
granite and ice
a cold hard home
for velvet moss
Magic in the Marsh
bullrush
wizard watching
over winter
Synapse
signals sent
of bloom and rest and bloom
dormancy too must be received
Together
nothing in common
but proximity of place
root enough for community
Winter Dreams
in the comfort of cattails
keeping watch
frogs and fish fast asleep
Thorns
could we meet
in the space
between the thorns
Signs
the pine wears sleet
like many steps of bird’s feet
leaving the sign of peace
River Wilds
leopard spots
zebra stripes
camouflage of ice
Bittersweet
in iced sunlight
brightness sweetens
the bitter cold
Water’s Way
freeze and thaw
and shifting drifts
all leaning into life
A Lingering
red canoe
a memory
of summer’s kiss
Kind Provision
bird box
in the sunflower field
surety of place
Blanketed
snow legislates
the quiet
of the woods
Mountainside
black bird rests
in the red winter rose
snowfall’s tableau
Picnic
the table’s cloth
is made of snow
and set with sun
Seeing Screen
impending storm
winter window foretells
the approaching landscape
Winter’s Nest
filled with snow
a cozy cold
winter’s nest
Happen By
colors sang
old songs of joy
for all who happened by
Finery
winter etches
all the fine edges
into landscape and memory
Snow Queen
her winter crown
rendered from
diamond light
Slow Flakes
December storm
the world
snowglobe-ed
Home to Roost
place for all
on the roof ridge perch
line of lineage
Hush
quiet falling
silence
on the ground
Tentative
first snow
a little shy
to be dropping by
Edged With Antique Lace
green field sparkles with frost
as winter takes residence
in the shadow’s depth
Hear the Unspoken
rose hips and hydrangea
having weathered the winter
articulate grace under pressure
Residency
on the north side
winter still resides
Made
highlights
of light snow
March’s art nouveau
Between Trees
now that I’ve found you
every trail leads
to your wise counsel
