we journey
towards each other
open hearted

thank you for the first snow
thank you for shelter from the cold
thank you for the few remaining leaves
thank you for the company of trees

autumn sets her table
for woodland creatures
with delicious decorations

blessings bestowed
in sunshine and snow
great gratitude for all that is given

holding their breath
hoping to make it
to thanksgiving

our purpose
ordained by proximity
to one another

place
made known
by stone and heart

everything
that was needed
was given in abundant grace

the harmony of everything
resounds in the woods
on thanksgiving and all days

In all her dazzling displays and subtle simplicities
nature’s ever evolving beauty nurtures
the ability to be grateful.

Turkeys hurry
to get to the far side
of Thanksgiving.

A certain crispness has crept into the air
and something heavy now weighs on Tom’s mind
a distant worry that has been hunting him.

Beneath the shroud of early morning mist
all creatures and growing things pause
and give thanks for the coming day.
