orange rocks swim like koi
undulating with the current and the wind

the paddle power
of legs

I fly in your sky
and swim in
your ocean of blue

propelled
by Mom’s encouragement
first swim

fish skeleton
swimming
the ocean sky

in the deep end
of color
oranges give way to light

travel
the curving petal edge
swim the pool of color

the sight alone
of cool blue
refreshed

her reflection swims
a memory
of last summer’s youth

the water swam
as shadows danced
the past nourishing the present

swim the sky
fly the water
heaven is on earth

They venture forth
for a final swim
before the river freezes them out.
