the sweetness sweeter
for the shortness
of their stay

it is
the maple wind
ushering in hope

sweet stuff
spun out of
light and life

in the meadow’s expanse
like a bee
I seek intimacy with clover

if handled very tenderly
absence can sometimes make a space
for sweetness to enter

oh to hover in the flowers
and sip the sweetness
from every one

sipping sweetness
from the false foxglove
mocktails in the afternoon

final visit
to the last
of the lilacs

maple lace
almost sweeter
than syrup

the light
was as thick as honey
its sweetness coated the day

gathering sweetness
rounding with time
growing into themselves

shorter days
sweeten
the crabapples

Cows find
spring’s sweetness
in tender young grass.

Fleeting is spring’s splendor
so sweeter is the view.
