Exhalation

the feathered breath
of winter
sighs upon the window

as waves are
the ocean’s breath
clouds are the sky’s

petals and wings
are ephemeral things
pulling on our heart strings

snow
departing as vapor
old man winter’s last sigh

between night’s descent
and the sleeping earth
resides the colored breath of light

slow deep breath
long light sigh
again then again

the landscape sighs
making space
for the new year

inside the barn
contentment rested
as it stormed outside

inspired by the field
hardwoods commence their leafing
as the landscape sighs in green

the day arrived
in wisps and sighs
the kiss of color as night goodbyes

sigh of contentment
pink blushed bloom
the center of this moment

across the lake
the mountains rise
beneath puffed clouds
sweet sighs the sky

trees sigh green
during these
delicate dainty days

Between the seasons
a quiet pause
as the earth sighs.
