on the rocks
a barnacle enclave of tiny homes
by neighboring mollusks residing in shells

the Maine shore
a rock muscled mastodon
in kelp fur

I am widened
by the ocean’s horizon
so much space for my soul to roam

dressed up for halloween
or did old man winter
get snagged on a branch?

anchors down
spirits buoyed
by community

beneath a cerulean sky
the ocean provides
sapphire, slate and stone

sand dollars gathered
on the shoreline
of cold

a sudden
summer memory
the seaside captured by cold
