Oak Leaves And Seaweed

riding the breath
of the ocean
home

a gathering of gourds and pumpkins
like patrons at the train depot
awaiting their ride through autumn

just to stand upon it
you have already ridden
to your fantastical destination

there goes the sky
hitching a ride
on the surface of the river

held
to the earth
by a blossom

diminutive ones
ride the curve
to coalescence

ride the rails
out of winter’s shadows
into light and the beginnings of green

tricycles wait out winter
rusting and trusting
they will ride another day
