without the wild
and abundant
nothing to reign over

peony the queen
presides
with pomp and circumstance

the world rages
in the woods
peace reigns

this day
heaven sent
we are drenched
in peace and beauty

presides over
the hillside

early spring’s queen
the willow in her
golden crown

purple crown
the sovereign rule
of poppy’s bloom

oh reign of candy rain
enticing trees
to let the sweetness flow

queen of the flowering vines
reigns in robes of royal purple

ebullience reigns
in the hours
of the iris

in her final season
still she reigns supreme

A servant to beauty
the monarch of color
Zinnia reigns over July.
