red lipped lily
pursed for a kiss

each year
in a multitude of tininess

seemingly spun
out of air
so delicate and sweet

enduring rock
perpetual phlox
kindreds

above
last year’s leaves
a complexity of delight

bouquet
in a bloom
perennial suitor

early and delicate
light rises
from the dark ground

wild grows
my perennial love
her precious winter bloom

Creeping phlox
sneaks up the mountain
stalking the last of the frost.

Darling of the door yard garden
clematis climbs up and along the picket fence;
most brilliant and ingenious buttercup.

Oh daffodil!
Perennial forbearer of Spring,
keeper of faith.
