luminosity of growth

beam of sun
alights the treetops
infusing buds with life

from green to blue to brown
many are the colors of the pine’s crown

Before the first leaf buds
blueberry’s red shoots
contemplate fruit.

The willow’s wands emerge
spinning gold.

The ginkgo’s fence
corrals deer out
reserving space for growth.

Each new limb begins as a sparkler in green.
The pine celebrates its own independence day.
