monarch and flower
kissed by the sun
one final embrace
before the journey’s begun

every year they meet
at the base of the tree
their love renewed each spring

they leaned
into each other
as lovers often do

side by side
the lovely couple
changing with the seasons

the blossom
in sunshine
lovers embrace

milkweed pods
and raspberry canes
lovers entwined

wind tossed curls and rosey hue
mysterious mistress
is in love with you

hot red begonia
rests against the cool granite
summer lovers

fingers of moss
entwine the old tree
a lover’s goodbye embrace.
