Silent Greeting

each tree
a kind acquaintance
the woods my gracious neighbor

its the small touch
and little kindnesses
that bind us together

ready to swing wide open
for any and all
kinds of kindness and love

deep in the woods
these three strangers
offered shelter

with the morning sun
still kind
dew tickles toes

they gather
in the meadow
sharing kindnesses

blazing sun
but shade
for Buddha

gentle snow
softening the world’s
hard edges

tender pink
the wild bloom
benevolence of simplicity

bird box
in the sunflower field
surety of place

flowers
pledged fidelity
to the kindness of the garden

in the kindness
of June’s gentle sun
babies feather and iris bloom

before the existence of bees
the magnificence of magnolias
relied on the kindness of beetles

the long shadow
of a small leaf
such is the way
of kindness

There is a magic garden
where everyone is welcome
to come and take what they need
be it faith or flowers.
