my strength gathers

at the edge of the clearing
a family of birch
homesteads

the garden feeding us
laundry on the line
so many kinds of shelter

the farm stand
the house and the barn
a trinity of roofs

grass waves goodbye
to the deep blue
of the cold sky

old homestead
holding the place
for spring

old milk can
the blue bird box
custodians of paradise

the lawn
stretches out
like summer before us

First the dream comes
then the vision begins
to be tangible.
