drink deeply
from the marvels and mysteries
of ordinary days

new rain rushes
to quench the thirst
of the drought-ed lake

or perhaps a hummingbird
I’m a moth
with aspirations

stay close
there are dangers
in the delicious garden

chomp chomp
chubby cheeked
chipmunk feeds

hatch
on the lake
bird’s buffet

big appetite for life
his hunger is for spring

searching the old corn field
for grub be it bug or blade

They feed in the field of their ancestors
and rest in a humble structure
that is everything it needs to be –
home
