of a nocturnal browse

here it is recorded

of each day

little bird’s
hokey pokey
turning himself around

the skirt ruffle lost
evidence of
fairies’ spring fling

the promise
always kept
spring’s return

near the heart
remains evidence
of a dark jagged year
that had to be grown around
