Tulips Beginning

an abstraction
of themselves
leaves bloom like petals

from the nourishing earth
a village
of tiny homes

a tiny
call for joy
the day transformed

dirty petals
gathered round
protecting color

purple and green
each porcelain vase
awaits her tulip

being one with
the great fertile earth
oh the magic of mud

Ants don’t question
why mountains appear
they simply climb them.

Tilled earth soaks up the sun
and waits for the seeds
of this season’s purpose to be planted.
