the road given
is the road
that must be traveled

the iris keep on
despite discouraging
evidence and occurances

the light
always finds a way
to get through

a mossy monument
to the ‘luck’
of a determined tree

sweet September
unwilling to let
summer’s party fade away

spring
the delicate
insistence of delight

in the sunless day
lift your head
anyway

the future disappeared
along with the horizon
leaving the delicate determination of now

sun shoulders out the snow
last years blooms trumpet
beauty’s determination

iris the indomitable
sprouts beneath the snow

Although it has been ages
since the corral gate has kept anything in or out
it still refuses to let go.
