passionate with color

sweet hydrangea
her summer bloom lingers
on a honeycomb of petals

blazing colors
defy the drought
and celebrate the heat

vixen
in the window
refuses winter’s grey

outside winter approaches
while defiant violet
flaunts her ruffled skirts

defiant
the masked bandit
pillages the crabapples

by winter’s demands
evergreens refuse to release color or needles
and stand in defiant contrast to the ever greying landscape.
