hail the sun

snow balanced on limbs
daring the wind
to draw new silhouettes

serene in uncertainty
possibilities tumble
into the unknown

intrepid tree
grows in rock
eagle’s fishing spot

perched atop
the shifting edge of shale
beauty’s daring

one must
dare the top rung
to tend the apple tree

Precious bleeding heart
daring a hard frost
bursts forth

fiery redheads
maples flaunt color
daring a frost

Only shadows dare
skate across the pond.
