Reaching For Each Other

stepping stones
growing into the whole
of a frozen crossing

the north side
maintains the line
spring seeks to cross

the sky
crosses the boundary
of forever

ripples reveal
the zig zag ways
of paddling paws

time crosses slowly
December’s snowy bridge
sojourn to the far side of remembering

Two planks
for two feet
to take two steps
and cross into
the welcoming woods.
