announce each
hour

little church stands between
the old route road and the big woods
with a faith of clapboard and a peace of stained glass

outside the church
red leaves and red brick
join in prayer

cathedral windows
on the ground
nature is my church

worship
in the woods
beauty is the pew

heaven’s clouds recognize
the tiny speck
as the church’s steeple

oh preach
in the church
of deciduous woods

outside the church window
the prayer and devotion
of snow

long before eventide
leaves chant the prayers of trees
the request and praise of grace and gratitude

even when the clapper is silent
the call to community is heard

Nature’s church
is adorned
with flower spires.

Nature is my church.
